Who we’re looking for

Toyota Financial Savings Bank (TFSB) Treasury team is looking for a skilled Treasury Senior Consultant who’s eager to apply his/her experience in hedge accounting to shape the future of this program at Toyota. Reporting to the Treasurer, the primary responsibility of this role includes initially joining the hedge accounting project team to design and coordinate the development of the hedge accounting infrastructure and thereafter managing the ongoing execution and development of the program.

What you’ll be doing

Initially, this role will be part of the project leadership team developing the hedge accounting infrastructure here at Toyota.

  • The person will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and responsible for the Bank’s hedge accounting program that will include among other possibilities the portfolio layering method.

  • Leading the implementation of the project in all of its aspects including software selection or development.

  • Working cross-functionally as the project manager and point of contact with other teams, including accounting, legal, compliance, systems, data science, IT, and other parts of Treasury to develop requirements, platforms, databases and capabilities for hedge accounting purposes.

  • This includes developing a hedge accounting strategy based on interest rate risk needs, available hedging instruments and hedged items.

  • Develop analytics to maximize hedge accounting benefits based on TFSB’s ALM strategy.

Once the hedge accounting project goes live –

  • As part of TFSB’s balance sheet management process, this role will be responsible for regularly applying hedge accounting treatment to derivatives transactions, and ongoing monitoring to maintain effective hedging relationships and recommend actions when necessary.

  • Working closely with Treasury teams on Asset Liability Management related items including funding, liquidity management, interest rate risk management, forecasting, valuation, etc.

  • This role will continue to serve as Subject Matter Expert on hedge accounting related topics.

  • Provide evidence for business process controls, fulfill requests from internal and external audits and regulators.

  • Continue to improve all existing process

  • Perform ad-hoc analysis as requested

  • With future growth, this role is expected to manage and guide a team, provide thoughtful leadership to achieve future objectives with hedge accounting capability.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • A deep understanding of the valuation methods for derivative financial risk management products

  • A deep understanding of the relationship between the Asset-Liability Management function and Balance Sheet / Income Statement dynamics, familiar with various interest rate derivative products and interest rate risk metrics.

  • Specialized knowledge of the Accounting Rules pertaining to hedge accounting

  • Have ability to apply specialized Hedge Accounting knowledge to the TFSB business model

  • Previous experience managing a team

  • Financial modeling skills– must have ability to design, understand, run, and troubleshoot financial models

  • Familiarity with databases (snowflake) and experienced in development collaboration with technology teams

  • Previous project management and software implementation experience

  • Ability to take ownership of processes, solve problems independently and improve the processes over time

  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with other teams such as operations, IT, accounting, etc.

Added bonus if you have

  • Experience with Empyrean, QRM, or Calypso

  • CPA, CFA or Master’s degree in a relevant field (Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Finance, etc.)
