Description of Position
TPG has an exciting opportunity for an Associate to join the Office of the President, based in San Francisco. Being based in San Francisco is preferred, however, the appointee could potentially be based in New York too. This role will have unique visibility into the operations and strategy of the firm, as well as the TPG Capital platform, the first business formed within TPG when the firm was founded in 1992, currently one of the largest platforms at TPG by assets under management. This position supports the President with generating insights, prioritization and the enabling of effective decision-making. This hire supports the broader platform by managing projects, and executing and communicating strategic initiatives.
Principal Responsibilities
- Communications and content development:
- Support communication internally and externally, including research and presentation Examples may include synthesis of firm management and market news, strategic priorities presentations, internal platform messaging, and external presentations for clients and/or shareholders
- Partner directly with the President to develop and own a library of thought leadership on the investing landscape and TPG’s strategy for Limited Partners and other audiences
- Meeting and process management:
- Assist in the management of the President’s schedule; partner with Executive Assistants to inform time management and ensure priorities are addressed efficiently and effectively
- Serve as a partner to the President, joining and preparing for critical meetings, crafting key messages and questions, and following up on action items
- Run cadence and agenda for leadership meetings, including structuring topics and prioritizing time and focus areas
- Strategic firm projects:
- End-to-end goal setting, analysis, and output for firm strategy presentations to executives and external parties
- Support the structuring of topics and focus areas for leadership of the firm, framing and effectively communicating key priorities, as well as driving execution against goals
Requirements
- 2-4 years of work experience, preferably in management consulting or investment banking
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from a college or university
- Excellent communication skills, including speaking, long-form writing, and slide writing
- Outstanding analytical and research skills and a high degree of intellectual curiosity – ability to get interested in a wide range of subjects and self-start on next steps
- Comprehensive finance and business strategy knowledge, ability to effectively synthesize firm strategy information using inputs across functional areas within the firm
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and a strong work ethic and dedication to consistently provide quality work
- Ability to adapt quickly and work effectively with a variety of internal stakeholders
- Highly flexible and able to shift priorities based on business demands; ability to travel when needed
- Maturity, humility, and exceptional ethics and discretion
It is expected that the annual base salary for this role will range from $130,000 – $170,000. Base salary is one component of TPG’s competitive total rewards package which typically includes discretionary compensation, comprehensive health benefits, and paid time off. Other incentives may also be available to certain eligible employees
