Position Description: The Director, Affiliated Business is responsible for the overall management of an assigned group of Affiliated Business clients. The position supervises others on the account support team, such as a CSR, Broker, or Account Executive. The position bears primary responsibility for the assigned client account(s) and works autonomously to manage all aspects of the account.

Reports to: The position reports to a Vice President in the brokerage

Essential Duties & Responsibilities*:

  • Identification of appropriate markets for all lines of coverage on the assigned Affiliated Business accounts, including, but not limited to P&C, Builder's Risk, WC, Auto, SDI, E&O, D&O, Pollution, and umbrella and excess coverages
  • Negotiation of terms with insurance carriers/ markets for placement of the assigned Clients' business
  • Annual renewal of all lines of coverage for the assigned group of Clients.
  • Provide on-going account management services for the assigned group of clients, including, but not limited to, contract review, technical advice, business risk advice, account analysis as requested by the clients, including, but not limited to, premium analysis, loss analysis , loss factors and trend analysis, and benchmarking of client risk against identified industry standards
  • Work with Claims Director in settlement of client losses as needed
  • Research risk management trends and advise clients on how best to manage risk; provide both insurance and non-insurance solutions to identified risks when appropriate
  • Supervise account support teams providing insurance certificates, preparing renewal documentation, and performing routine analysis for the assigned Clients

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration or similar program; or a minimum of 10 years of experience in insurance, brokerage, or risk management; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/ or experience, Broker's license required; CPCU, ARM, or similar insurance designation desired. Strong negotiation skills , with the ability to align complex Client business needs with market availability. Thorough understanding of brokerage operations and the regulatory environment in which brokerages operate. Proven written and verbal communication abilities. Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite and common industry RMIS programs. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage high volume, deadline-driven workloads. Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and interpret contract and insurance documents and forms and make appropriate recommendations. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals at all levels , both internal and external. Ability to maintain appropriate Client confidentiality. Ability to travel.

Work Environment: On a regular basis this job is performed in an office environment with usual office working conditions, free of disagreeable elements. On an occasional basis, the employee may travel to and work at a job site location or client office location and be located in a trailer or other temporary structure. The noise in this work environment may be moderately loud.
