Job Description
About the Team
This Software Engineering Director will lead the development for our Fleet products. Fleet products are part of Corporate Payment and Treasury Solutions (CPTS), an industry leading set of products and services to support Payables, Travel, Prepaid, Freight, Fleet and Aviation. This technology provides tools for our corporate and government customers to help manage their cash flow, make and receive payments from external parties, reduce their fraud risk, and monitor/reconcile their account balances and transactions.
What you’ll do
A Software Engineering Director exhibits a mix of technical acumen, strategy, and vision, along with the ability to cultivate and grow technical talent. Responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and testing a set of technical products. Is an advanced technologist enabling strong coding practices and solid design decisions. Builds meaningful relationships with relevant stakeholders and effectively partners to remove obstacles and guide cross-team strategic efforts. Is an agile/product champion by enabling product teams and partnering with other leaders to drive empowerment, autonomy, engineering momentum, and business value. Fosters a team culture of empowerment, engineering excellence, and growth.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Eight or more years of relevant software engineering experience
- Five or more years of experience leading a software engineering team.
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Thorough knowledge of information systems technology and software development processes and tools, especially industry specific applications.
- Extensive knowledge of banking systems, card processing & fleet-based credit card systems; as well as the ability to recognize the business impact to the overall organization.
- Champion and leader of Agile and Product Model ways of working
- Experience managing 'hybrid' tech stacks including Cobol, Java and ReactJS
- Experience modernizing and migrating apps to from traditional data centers to the cloud.
- Strong engineering and technology background with the ability to drive product solutions.
- Ability to use demonstrated management, leadership & interpersonal communication skills to drive decisions through consensus and influence.
- Experience leading leaders in a development environment a plus.
Location Expectations
The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $145,180.00 - $170,800.00 - $187,880.00Job postings typically remain open for approximately 20 days of the posting date listed above, however the job posting may be closed earlier should it be determined the position is no longer required due to business need.
