Job Description
U.S. Bank's Corporate Finance team is expanding its competitive intelligence function responsible for the development of detailed peer bank industry analysis and comparative assessments against the Company’s highly diversified and successful operating model. The Competitive Intelligence Analyst will support the Company’s broader Corporate Finance efforts, which includes highly collaborative and critical Investor Relations, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Economic Analysis functions.
Responsibilities:
- Assists Director of Competitive Intelligence’s mandate of maintaining constant coverage of industry-related news, trends, and developments and disseminates insights when appropriate to internal stakeholders.
- Supports the development of thematic, market, and company research that identifies and evaluates key strategic trends, market dynamics, key stakeholder strengths, weaknesses and opportunities associated with various focus areas.
- Drafts internal competitive research reports including, alerts, company updates, industry notes, sell-side coverage analyst analysis and/or target shareholder prospecting
- Supports management’s interactions with institutional investors by responding to requests for reports, models and/or other ad-hoc analysis.
- Supports all preparations for industry and company-sponsored events/conferences, as needed
- Stays abreast of trends and business conditions and fiscal/monetary policy that could affect the broader macro environment or USB specifically
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Typically five or more years of related experience
- Strategic self-starter, detail-oriented, resourceful, independent critical thinker
- Comfort in initiating contact and interacting with internal / external stakeholders including senior executive management
- Ability to work independently while also capable of delivering in a team-oriented environment
- Good listening, verbal, written communication, and organizational skills
- Understanding of equity markets on a global and domestic level
- Theoretical competency in accounting/financial modeling, securities valuation, and an aptitude toward financial markets
- Comfortable synthesizing data as well as applying logic and reasoning to decipher the strengths and weaknesses of a particular problem set
- Interest in developing skills in technical and fundamental analysis, asset allocation, and strategy research
This role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $105,400.00 - $124,000.00 - $136,400.00U.S. Bank will consider qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records for employment.
