Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking a Full-time Software Engineer – Mainframe (Multiple openings) in Irving, TX.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Software Engineer - Mainframe is responsible for the analysis, design, testing, development and maintenance of best in class software applications by utilizing software and code development experience. Specific duties include: (1) utilize full Software Development Lifecycle to design, develop, and test high-quality software applications; (2) utilize software and code development experience; (3) design and develop high-quality software applications with Optimal Technical solution for the requirement including the best way and cost saving for the customer; (4) performance tuning of software applications by monitoring the deployed code and review the performance of the code in production and provide suggestions to improve the performance of the code; (5) perform unit, system and integration testing and coordinate with testing team and business users for User Acceptance testing, providing knowledge sharing on software design and performing necessary bug fix reported in testing; (6) investigate issues/incidents, identifying the root cause and providing appropriate solutions within the Service Level Agreement; and (7) utilize the following tools and technologies: COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, EASYTRIEVE, REXX, SQL, XML, Z/OS Connect API, CA7 scheduler, BMC, DFSORT, ICETOOL, IDCAMS, IDZ, MQ Series, DB2 Catalog Manager, JIRA, FILE Manager/File AID, ENDEVOR, NDM, FTP, Agile software development lifecycle, DevOps principles and GITLAB.

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Engineering, or Computer Science and 5 years (progressive, post-baccalaureate) software and code development experience.

Required Skills/Experience:
Must also have 24 months of experience with each of the following: (1) designing and developing high-quality software applications with Optimal Technical solution for the requirement including the best way and cost saving for the customer; (2) performance tuning of software applications by monitoring the deployed code and review the performance of the code in production and provide suggestions to improve the performance of the code; (3) performing unit, system and integration testing and coordinating with testing team and business users for User Acceptance testing, providing knowledge sharing on software design and performing necessary bug fix reported in testing; (4) investigate issues/incidents, identifying the root cause and providing appropriate solutions within the Service Level Agreement; and (5) utilizing the following tools and technologies: COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, EASYTRIEVE, REXX, SQL, XML, Z/OS Connect API, CA7 scheduler, BMC, DFSORT, ICETOOL, IDCAMS, IDZ, MQ Series, DB2 Catalog Manager, JIRA, FILE Manager/File AID, ENDEVOR, NDM, FTP, Agile software development lifecycle, DevOps principles and GITLAB. Employer will accept experience gained concurrently.
