Position Overview

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Senior Vice President, Head of Direct Sales to lead Elavon’s direct merchant acquisition strategy. This executive role will oversee a national team of sales professionals, drive vertical-focused growth, and optimize go-to-market execution across high-potential geographies. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in payments, a passion for innovation, and a proven ability to lead high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive direct sales strategy focused on vertical specialties and geographic expansion.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing direct sales force, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with SMB clients and internal stakeholders to align sales efforts with product, marketing, and support functions.
  • Capitalize on market opportunities, including redeployment of resources from legacy partnerships, to expand Elavon’s footprint.
  • Champion adoption of new tools, marketing assets, and enablement platforms to enhance seller effectiveness and customer experience.
  • Establish KPIs and reporting frameworks to monitor sales performance and ensure ROI.
  • Drive increased win rates and customer production across verticals, targeting 45+ new customers per sales FTE annually.
  • Provide regular updates to Elavon and U.S. Bank leadership on sales performance, market trends, and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 15+ years of progressive sales experience, including 5+ years in SMB-focused leadership roles.
  • Proven success in developing and executing sales strategies that drive measurable growth.
  • Experience in payments, financial services, or technology solutions relevant to SMB clients.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or related field.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to influence across all levels of the organization.

Preferred:

  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • Deep understanding of integrated payments and merchant services.
  • Experience with verticalized go-to-market strategies and direct distribution models.
  • High aptitude in decision-making, problem-solving, and navigating complex organizational structures.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $194,225.00 - $228,500.00
