Your role

Does the prospect of mitigating Anti-Money Laundering (AML) risk in the financial markets with models excite you? Are you an innovative thinker, interested in risk topics? Do you enjoy working with algorithms and to apply, test and document them?
In your role as AML Model Operations Officer, you will:
• Strengthen and support our global model operations team in end-to-end activities during a model’s lifecycle, such as performance monitoring, model validation, and model deployment.
• Apply quantitative methods for calibration and testing of rule- or AI-based Transaction Monitoring (TM) models.
• Find and resolve inefficiencies with regard to model operation, calibration, and testing, as well as address any concerns identified during model validation.
• Design and implement re-usable Python / PySpark assets, creating code templates to improve the model operation framework.
• Translate AML-related rules into efficient and re-usable code to adequately model the risks.
• Extract business insights using analytical tools and present results in a structured manner to team members and stakeholder alike.
• Have direct hands-on experience with AML models, such as Actimize, Mantas, or in-house built solutions.

Your team

You will be joining the Transaction Monitoring team within GCRG Methodologies and Models, the model and innovation hub for UBS non-financial risk management. The team is set up globally, with model developers and operation specialists working in close collaboration to ensure an efficient and effective mitigation of AML risk. Your team would be located in Warsaw, Poland.

Your expertise

• An advanced educational foundation with a Master’s or Ph.D. degree from a reputable university in STEM / Economics (computer science, natural science, mathematics, statistics, physics, data science, electrical or mechanical engineering, financial engineering, or similar related majors).
• Strong foundation in modelling, including development, testing, calibration and performance monitoring.
• Knowledge of one or more scripting/programming language is required (Python, PySpark, Spark, SQL, R, MatLab).
• Comfortable with version control systems such as git and basic Linux commands.
• Ability to extract valuable and interpretable business information from data using analytical methods. Having worked with financial and/or payment data for value extraction is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of some fundamental Artificial Intelligence (AI) modeling methodologies is beneficial, but not required.
• Any prior work experience in financial services, especially in the domain of AML, Financial Crime Prevention, Market Surveillance or employee monitoring is advantageous.
• Experience in developing, maintaining or operating Transaction Monitoring models is highly desirable.
• A self-starter spirit with a strong analytical mindset is a core trait to succeed in the role. Having the ability to identify risk and opportunities proactively, independently devise plans, evaluate conceptual soundness, identify weaknesses and limitations in models is highly desired.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English is required, other languages advantageous.
