Are you a versatile, smart innovator looking to join a growing Bermuda Class E reinsurer?

Boston Re Ltd. is a Class E reinsurer focused on annuity reinsurance and is owned by a very large, top tier investment bank with a very well-known brand.
The Company has a small team, so everyone must be able to take on multiple roles and contribute with varied skill sets.
We are looking for someone with a life actuary or legal expertise, Bermuda regulatory and compliance knowledge, ideally with experience at a Bermuda Class E company writing annuity reinsurance.

In this role, you will:
- act as Deputy CEO with internal partner and external stakeholders in the CEO’s absence.
- serve as Chief Actuary, advising on pricing of transactions, Commercial Insurer Solvency Self-Assessment (CISSA) capital, relevant The Bermuda Solvency Capital Requirement (BSCR) inputs.
- review annuity reinsurance and other contracts and advise the CEO and broader team on actuarial matters or legal matters.
- lead and oversee the corporate governance framework of the annuity reinsurance business.
- ensure that the company adheres to regulatory, legal, and ethical standards while supporting long-term business strategies and work with the risk management team to ensure the corporate governance structure complies with UBS standards.
- develop and review company specific governance-related policies and Terms of Reference for governing bodies, including those related to ethical conduct, conflict of interest, and corporate social responsibility and ensure policies are effectively communicated and adhered to by all levels of the organization.

Your team

You’ll be employed by and work at Boston Re Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of UBS AG, with the Reinsurance Solutions team in Pembroke, Bermuda..
You will be reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in Bermuda. As a two-person team, you will both provide leadership, advice, and oversight of all actuarial and governance-related activities to determine transaction pricing, advise on actuarial matters, and maintain the Company’s compliance with the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) regulations and other applicable requirements.

Your expertise

- qualified life actuary with deep expertise in life insurance products, especially annuities.
- knowledge of corporate governance principles, risk management, and internal control systems.
- ability to review annuity reinsurance and other contracts and advise the CEO and broader team on legal structure.
- ability to leverage your actuarial expertise to advise the structuring team on improvements to reinsurance structures.
- strong understanding of the legal and regulatory requirements for Class E life reinsurance companies with an understanding of contract law and reinsurance contract wording.
- previous experience working with a board of directors and managing governance functions at a senior level.
- excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex governance matters to senior executives and board members.
- detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
