Your role

Are you enthusiastic about managing change and collaborating with senior leaders in driving strategic priorities? Do you have experience with Cost basis regulations and can multi-task and prioritize complex topics and risk? Do you want to make a meaningful impact while delivering solutions during tremendous change and transformation?
We are looking for a leader of a critical team within Wealth Management Americas Operations responsible for managing the Cost Basis businesses for the Wealth Management and Investment Bank franchises in the Americas. This leadership role is accountable for all processes specific to Cost Basis, including: CBRS, client and branch inquiries, position and break reconciliations, basis adjustments on inherited or gifted tax lots, 1099-B tax reporting and tax season tasks, management of our cost basis vendor, and overall risk management and reporting. The Cost Basis teams are located in our Weehawken, New Jersey, Nashville, Tennessee, and India sites. In addition to your run the bank responsibilities, you will also be responsible for managing any project related deliverables.

• leverage their deep knowledge of Cost Basis processes and regulations to mitigate risk and help support the planned future growth and aspiration of the WMA and IB business.
• use their product and front-to-back process knowledge to both assess and continually improve the risk and control environment inclusive of identifying and proposing potential solutions for addressing control gaps.
• must be proactive in identifying opportunities to improve processes, collaborating across functions and entities – looking for opportunities / synergies across teams and aggressively drive improvements and adoption of best practices.
• increase efficiencies by utilizing innovative technology and enable further adoption of digital tools and strategies
• implement best in class servicing of our clients by challenging existing service models and enhancing our service offering.
• be a culture carrier for group operations and the firm and lead our teams leveraging diverse ways of working inclusive of virtual management as well as role modeling UBS’ behaviors of integrity, collaboration, and challenge.
• Participate in all applicable industry forums and or internal governance committees where appropriate.
• stay aware of current industry and regulatory activity, keeping an eye on how this aligns with risks and client impact.
• manage and work well in a team environment, also to be able to work independently on projects and assignments that may be beyond the scope of their current roles and responsibilities.
• be vocal and actively engage to solve issues, take ownership for and drive issues and or projects to successful completion.

Your team

You'll be leading the Global Wealth Management Americas Cost Basis Operations team. This team is responsible for coordinating all day-to-day activities within Cost Basis Operations supporting the Wealth Management and Investment Bank businesses from initial client investments or transfers to the production of annual client tax forms. The team is located in Weehawken, New Jersey and Nashville, Tennessee, along with an offshore support staff.

Your expertise

• Strong people management skills
• FINRA Series 99 required
• Risk management mindset
• Comprehensive background in Cost Basis including:
o deep knowledge of cost basis regulations for covered lots
o CBRS processing
o Tax lot adjustments on inherited or gifted tax lots
o 1099-B reporting for all reportable product types
o Corporate action adjustments
o Cost basis reporting for stock option plans
• Worked in a similar position for a minimum of 10-12 years
• An understanding of what it takes to run successful projects in financial services
• Experience in an Operations environment and understanding the complexities of cross functional processes
• Broad Operations and system knowledge across multiple disciplines
• Effective communication skills
• Vendor management oversight
• Collaboration and ability to implement change
