Your role

Do you want to work closely with senior management and Wealth Management (WM) sales teams (Client Advisor) on driving forward the fastest growing wealth management business in Japan?

The Human Capital Department (HCD) as a part of the Strategy & Execution Department drives various People topics within the GWM Japan. WM is a highly people business and this function is key for the sustainable growth of our business.
We’re looking for the Head of HCD who can drive and contribute in the below roles within GWM Japan. The Head of HCD reports to the Head of Strategy & Execution.

The main roles of HCD:
• Graduate hiring, onboarding, training and support till they become CAs
• Lead and support various UBS training courses as a local liaison with the UBS’s global education/training functions (e.g., UBS University) including the official UBS Diploma (CWMA)
• Create and lead original trainings and learning opportunities for GWM Japan (mainly for CAs). This includes regular CA learning /sharing sessions.
• Potentially support and lead mid-career hiring of CAs and/or people strategy. And proactively define issues and challenges then improve the status-quo mainly in the people area

We work closely with the GWM global and regional teams.
And given the “people” topic, required to interact directly with senior management within GWM Japan in addition to your direct line manager.

Your team

You’ll be working in the GWM Japan Strategy & Execution Department in Tokyo. We collaborate closely with local, regional and global stakeholders across UBS Group in delivering strategic projects and strategic RtB initiatives for Wealth Management Japan.

Your expertise

• ideally 5 – 10 years of experience working in the people development and/or HR role which required the similar tasks and deliveries
• people skill to handle various including sensitive people topics and to manage people by effectively interact
• leadership to drive projects, and team (own team, virtual team such as hiring committee member)
• well organized
• excellent communicator
• able to deal with potentially contentious challenges effectively as well as to influence various parties
• comfort with adapting to new, unfamiliar situations and topics quickly
• quick to learn new things be it a new IT tool or different process
• always looking to remove barriers and make the way we work more efficient
• natural risk manager with a strategic mind-set
• working in a wealth management or any financial industries can be a plus
• Japanese and English language skills, work experience in an non-Japanese environment or overseas, working in a multi-language/culture environment can be a plus
