The UBS Critical Materials Group is looking for a dynamic and driven individual to join our team. We’re looking for someone like that who is:
• Independent thinker, who will proactively identify and resolve complex financial tasks head on
• Collaborative, and can lead sector execution on M&A and the full suite of investment banking products
• Client focused, and will build relationships both internally on the team and across the floor, as well as externally with our sponsor and corporate coverage universe
• Team focused, and will help to build team culture and develop skills of junior bankers
• Dynamic, and able to work across CMG verticals including metals and mining, chemicals, and new O&G
• Thoughtful, and will deliver creative and correct solutions directly to both senior bankers and clients alike

Your team
You’ll be working in the UBS Critical Materials Group sector as an Associate Director with responsibilities across different top ranked sub sectors within the group. The primary sector focus of the group is each of:
• Metals and Mining: Upstream and downstream extraction and processing of future facing commodities (copper, lithium, etc), precious metals (gold, silver, etc), among others, and related recycling, streaming, and infrastructure; clients are large global public and private corporates
• Chemicals: Corporate, private equity owned and emerging clients in a broad sector, ranging from commodity to highly differentiated specialty and consumer chemicals/ingredients, including emerging growth areas like recycling/hydrogen/bioplastic
• New O&G: Transition of O&G companies into multi-energy platforms, as well as downstream in the value chain, including retail and distribution, services, lubricants, transition and aviation fuels, including how the EV trend impacts the industry; clients are private equity, public and private corporates
As an Associate Director, you will provide key analytical support in idea origination efforts and transaction execution focused on M&A, leveraged buyouts, and equity / debt / private capital markets transactions.
Your expertise
• A university degree in finance, economics, business administration, mathematics, or related technical field
• 3-5+ years experience in investment banking including both idea generation and transaction execution (with focus on M&A)
• Excellent financial modelling experience (operating models / DCFs, merger models, LBOs)
• Robust understanding of asset and corporate valuation and ability to lead preparation / review of excel models and powerpoint decks
• Solid financial and accounting skills
• Passionate and motivated to develop your career and relationships both within UBS and with your clients
• Experience training / managing junior team members to achieve the best outcome for all team members and clients
• Strong communication skills and ability to present internally and to clients
• Previous experience in investment banking role in metals and mining is considered a plus
• Proficient in spoken and written English is essential; additional languages are a plus but not required
