Do you have an analytical mindset and a curiosity for how models are used, reviewed and governed in a large international financial institution? Are you interested in building practical knowledge of data analysis, model validation, automation, agile ways of working and model risk management? For our MRMC Model Validation Internship Program, we are looking for motivated graduates who want to learn step by step how independent model validation works, while contributing under guidance to well-defined activities across the model lifecycle.

Your team

You’ll be working alongside our Model Risk Management & Control (MRMC) US team in Krakow. As an intern, you will learn how model validation supports sound risk management by observing experienced colleagues, reviewing practical examples and gradually contributing to defined tasks. You will gain exposure to how validators analyze model methodology, data, implementation, performance and governance, and how clear documentation and effective challenge help stakeholders understand model risk.

In our Internship Program, you will build a strong foundation through a structured mix of learning, shadowing and hands-on project work. You will practice using tools such as R, Python, Excel or AI-incorporated analytical applications, while learning how automation, digitalization and AI-enabled solutions can improve validation workflows, documentation and reporting. This paid internship lasts six months, and is based on a 40-hour work week.
The program is designed as a learning journey: you will first develop an understanding of core model risk and validation concepts, especially in the credit risk and AI modeling areas, then practice applying them through guided analytical and documentation tasks, and finally contribute to small improvements or summaries that can be shared with the team. Throughout the internship, you will receive guidance from experienced colleagues and gain practical exposure to regulatory expectations, governance standards, analytical testing, process automation and effective stakeholder communication.

Your expertise

• at least a bachelor’s degree, or final-year study, in financial mathematics, statistics, econometrics, physics, applied mathematics, computer science, economics, finance or another quantitative discipline
• genuine interest in learning about financial markets, credit risk, AI risks, quantitative methods, data analysis, model validation and risk management
• strong prompt writing skills and hands-on experience leveraging AI chatbots for day-to-day problem solving
• strong analytical thinking, attention to detail and willingness to learn complex topics step by step
• motivation, curiosity, creativity and a can-do attitude when working through new problems
• adaptability and ability to collaborate across teams, functions and cultures in an international environment
• good written and spoken English, with the ability to explain analytical work clearly
• solid MS Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Python, R or similar analytical tools is helpful, and enthusiasm to continue learning is essential
• interest in learning tools such as GitLab, automation solutions and AI-enabled productivity tools through guided practice and project work
•can evidence how experimental and responsible use of AI can improve outcomes and efficiency
