Key responsibilities

1. Equity & Market Research: Evaluate market evolution across clinical unmet need, technology, scientific maturity, business models, adoption, and competitive dynamics. Frame the key debates within the investor community and develop prospective, evidence-based views and models for market size, growth, and long-term durability.

2. Company Evaluation: Research private companies within priority subsectors; assess positioning, product and technology differentiation, clinical and commercial evidence, management quality, business model, competitive advantage, and strategic potential. Develop investment-oriented company profiles and diligence frameworks.

3. Private-Market Capital Assessment: Track venture investment, financing rounds, investor syndicates, strategic investments, M&A, valuations where available, and deal flow. Assess how capital formation and the financing environment influence competitive intensity, innovation cycles, and prospective category leaders.

4. Direct Company Engagement: Source, screen, and build relationships with private companies. Prepare for and facilitate discussions with founders and C-suite executives through direct outreach, conferences, and referrals. Develop executive briefs and targeted diligence questions, and represent the team with credibility and professionalism.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly analytical and intellectually curious Healthcare Equity Research Associate to evaluate evolving, disruptive themes and innovation led by private healthcare companies, typically venture-backed Series A-C. The role will focus on Medical Devices and Life Sciences Tools & Diagnostics, combining thematic research, company diligence, private-market intelligence, and direct executive engagement to develop differentiated, investment-relevant insights

Your skills and experience

• 2-6 years of relevant experience in investment banking, buy-side or sell-side equity research, management consulting, private equity, venture capital, or a related healthcare investment or strategy role.
• Understanding of the healthcare ecosystem, with experience in Medical Devices and/or Life Sciences Tools & Diagnostics strongly preferred.
• Ability to engage with technical, scientific, clinical, regulatory, commercial, and financial content and translate it into clear investment implications.
• Working knowledge of the private-market investment process and the diligence questions typically evaluated by institutional investors.
• Strong research, financial modeling, market-sizing, written communication, and presentation skills.

The successful candidate will synthesize complex information quickly, form a distinctive perspective, and support conclusions with defensible, well-structured arguments. They will demonstrate sound judgment, intellectual rigor, executive presence, and the gravitas to engage credibly with senior executives, investors, and industry experts while contributing effectively within a team.

Salary information

The indicative gross base salary range as a full-time equivalent role:
• United States - New York - New York min USD 126250 - max USD 148750 /annum

The expected salary for this role will be determined by relevant factors which may include but are not limited to, role-required experience, qualifications, education, location and skill level.
