Job overview and responsibilities

The Senior Analyst – Flight Standards Programs serves as a subject matter expert responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing data-driven tools and insights that support Flight Standards programs, with a strong focus on the Line Operations Safety Audit (LOSA) program. This role will identify and execute process improvement opportunities, deliver actionable analytics, and ensure transparent performance tracking across Flight Standards’ safety, risk, and performance management responsibilities.

The Senior Analyst will work closely with stakeholders across Flight Operations, Corporate Safety, and Digital Technology to design, build, and sustain advanced dashboards and analytics solutions using Power BI and Foundry, enabling leadership to visualize trends, track performance, and proactively identify safety risks and opportunities for improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and continuously improve LOSA dashboards and related Flight Standards data visualizations using Power BI and Foundry, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and usability.
  • Partner with Digital Technology, IKC, and operational teams to create and maintain automated data pipelines and visual tools that track key Flight Standards and LOSA metrics.
  • Analyze LOSA data to identify systemic trends, operational risks, and opportunities for improvement, providing data-driven recommendations to Flight Standards leadership.
  • Design and manage performance dashboards that integrate multiple data sources to provide a unified view of Flight Standards safety performance across all fleets and operational theaters.
  • Create high-quality visual presentations, reports, and dashboards for senior leadership that clearly communicate safety and performance insights.
  • Collaborate with Flight Standards and Corporate Safety to support Safety Risk Management (SRM) and Safety Assurance (SA) activities through data analysis, reporting, and visualization.
  • Support ad-hoc analysis and data requests related to safety programs, Flight Standards initiatives, and operational performance.
  • Ensure data governance, consistency, and alignment with United’s enterprise analytics standards.

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, information systems, engineering, or another quantitative field (i.e. mathematics, statistics, economics, etc.)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Power BI
  • Proficient with SharePoint
  • Proficient with writing complex queries and procedures (i.e., SQL, Python, Foundry, etc.)
  • Experience with Data Visualization development using one or more of the reporting tools (i.e. Power BI, Spotfire, , Python, HTML, JavaScript, Power Automate, , etc.) for queries, procedures, dashboards and final formatted reporting in an email format.
  • Ability to study/understand Flight Operations business needs, then design data/technology solutions that connect business processes, Safety Management Systems obligations, and performance objectives with quantifiable outcomes
  • Strong project management and communication skills

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

The base pay range for this role is $79,800.00 to $103,966.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
