Job overview and responsibilities

Oversee the comprehensive compliance reporting and investigation programs for border control agency requirements globally. Drive enterprise level visibility to United’s compliance posture with international border requirements and generate insights and recommendations to minimize penalties and disruption to the operation, employees, and customers. Manage enforcement actions from U.S. and foreign governments related to the above portfolio. Maintain United’s system configurations for passenger admissibility determination and support the development of training and functionality to improve performance.

  • Understand multiple perspective and goals to build consensus across several stakeholders when necessary to assess impact of border control mandates and operational challenges
  • Develop strategies for solutions to achieve compliance with government agency goals and mandates
  • Assist with creating and updating document processing procedures and training as needed; serve as an advisor to management; perform and coordinate a variety of administrative and management services essential to the operation
  • Collaborate on, implement, and evaluate project programming that addresses and supports Facilitation programs and initiatives across self service and airport tools and systems
  • Represent United Airlines and Facilitation at industry forums
  • Performance and compliance monitoring through error research, root cause analysis, and fine/penalty mitigation, ensuring service delivery to company standards
  • Create and manage intake mechanisms, databases, and reporting to capture immigration and customs related fines and penalties and respond to proposed fines for mitigation and appeal

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of related experience
  • Knowledge of above the wing airline operations and systems/tools
  • Basic understanding of international passenger admissibility and documentation concepts
  • Diplomacy in dealing with regulators / strategy development / communication with senior level leadership
  • Strong organization skills - able to track complex problems with attention to details and manage cross functional projects
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree or related experience
  • Knowledge of border control regulations (e.g. USC 8 and 19) and processes, entry requirements and travel documents, risk assessment, IATA API and PNRGOV standards, and ICAO Annex 9
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal with a strategic and critical thinking mindset
  • Knowledge of Shares and United operational data tools to support failure research

The base pay range for this role is $81,795.00 to $106,602.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
