Description

The Sr. Manager IT Application Development – Finance Data, Analytics will lead a team that builds and operates cloud-native applications, services, and custom analytics solutions supporting FP&A and Controllership. This role partners closely with Finance stakeholders, Enterprise Data Engineering, and Enterprise AI teams to deliver scalable solutions

In addition to delivering new capabilities, this role is accountable for supporting existing finance analytics and traditional reporting, enabling reliable onboarding and ingestion of finance data into the United data hub (UDH).

Product delivery, operations, and modernization

• Lead delivery of high-quality software applications and custom analytics services that meet finance requirements for reliability, auditability, governance, and performance.

• Support and enhance existing finance analytics solutions and traditional reports, ensuring stability through close/forecast cycles and improving performance and maintainability over time.

• Deliver modern calculation and insight capabilities that support profitability and cost allocation use cases.

• Partner with Data Engineering on ingestion and pipelines; define finance requirements and data contracts, onboard finance data into the UDH, and support production readiness, data quality, cataloging, and governance.

• Scale finance adoption of the UDH and self-service analytics through United-approved tools and certified datasets.

• Partner with Enterprise AI teams to jointly deliver finance AI use cases (AI/ML, GenAI, Agentic) from concept through production.

• Drive predictable delivery through Agile practices, disciplined release management, and strong production support processes.

• Partner with Finance leaders as a trusted advisor—translating business outcomes into actionable technical strategies and roadmaps.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.

• 7+ years of progressive IT experience with a strong focus on software engineering / application development, including building cloud-native services or data-intensive applications at enterprise scale.

• 3+ years of leadership experience managing teams and/or complex cross-functional initiatives.

• Demonstrated experience delivering modern cloud-based solutions using AWS and modern engineering practices (CI/CD, DevSecOps, observability).

• Strong engineering fundamentals including API/service design, event-driven patterns, resiliency, performance tuning, and secure SDLC practices.

• Experience working with modern cloud and analytics technologies such as:

  • AWS (ECS, Lambda, EventBridge, SQS, S3)
  • C#/.NET services and API-based integrations
  • Databricks, Apache Spark, Python
  • Delta Lake, Unity Catalog (including SQL Serverless capabilities)
  • Amazon Redshift
  • Power BI or similar analytics consumption tools

• Experience supporting production services and/or analytics platforms (monitoring, incident management, operational readiness).

• Foundational knowledge of AI/ML and agentic AI concepts sufficient to lead production use cases with Enterprise AI partners.

• Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to translate finance needs into clear technical plans and delivery outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related field.

• Experience modernizing or refactoring legacy solutions into cloud-native architectures and operating them at scale.

• Experience delivering calculation-intensive or rules-driven finance solutions (allocations, scenario modeling, forecasting, anomaly detection) with explainability and auditability requirements.

• Experience with data quality and observability frameworks.

• Experience with MLOps/LLMOps and operational monitoring for AI-enabled solutions.

• Airline industry experience.


The base pay range for this role is $140,600.00 to $183,108.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
