Job overview and responsibilities

Sr. Data Analyst is a technical expert in Data Analysis, responsible for gathering and interpreting information of enterprise applications and processes used across United Airlines to improve our operational businesses decisions. This will be accomplished with a combination of general application/environment understanding and the use of analytics and automation tools provided to you for both cloud and on-premises. Role is accountable to consolidate, interpret patterns and trends, and build recommendations for all aspects of IT Service Delivery and business insights to improve our decision making and the governance of our IT processes, including quality, observability, incident, problem, and change management. Lastly, as the Sr. Data Analyst, this role drive thought leadership, partnering with operational teams to define and implement reports, and drive comprehensive studies across the organization.

• Collaborate proactively with interdisciplinary teams across the IT department to identify, design and develop schemas and data acquisition, transformations, and data integrations from multiple sources, including databases, APIs, PowerBI, MS Excel and third-party sources and ensure the upkeep of databases and data systems
• Continuously refine and ensure that data is accurate, consistent, and reliable throughout its lifecycle to ensure its consistency for trustworthy decisions
• Conduct in-depth data analyses using advanced statistical methods and tools to uncover patterns, correlations, and insights
• Perform rigorous mathematical and statistical analysis on large data sets
• Create and maintain processes to generate accurate and timely reports that help stakeholders understand and act on key data insights
• Design and implement solutions for metadata, data quality, privacy management, working alongside teams within the business or the management team to establish and understand business needs
• Design scripts and tools to automatically extract and process large volumes of data from multiple sources, improving efficiency and availability
• Construct and analyze large datasets to find patterns and develop quantitative and empirical methods to detect anomalies
• Tackle complex datasets using advanced techniques such as machine learning and predictive modeling to enable deeper insights and future-oriented decision-making, successfully handling large datasets

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

• Bachelor's degree
• Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Information Technology
• 5+ years in an IT organization with experience in data science or data analytics with experience in modeling and simulation, statistical analysis, quantitative risk assessment, data science, or related field
• 4+ years of proven experience using databases, SQL in a medium to large IT organization
• 2+ years of experience in leading data science teams and machine learning is a plus
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to influence stakeholders using clear insights and recommendations
• Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets and relational databases
• Ability to code (structured and OOP) using one or more high-level languages, such as Python, R, Java, C# or JavaScript
• Strong statistical knowledge and understanding of predictive modeling; ability to tease out incrementality vs. correlations
• Understanding of API integrations and services, and experience with RESTful and SOAP APIs
• Strong SQL skills and experience with distributed analytic processing technologies (AWS S3)
• Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship
• Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
• Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
