Job overview and responsibilities
The Aircraft Health Monitoring (AHM) team plays a vital role in improving the on-time and completion performance of United's network by turning unexpected aircraft system failures into scheduled maintenance. The Senior Manager leads an operational team responsible for responding to fault messages, sensor data, and/or maintenance log pages for United's mainline fleet of Boeing and Airbus aircraft. The team leverages OEM and inhouse software, combined with advanced analytics and deep on-wing experience, to create new work orders that resolve aircraft defects before they occur, update existing log pages with new information, and interface with maintenance technicians who may need more detailed troubleshooting. In addition to operational responsibilities, the Senior Manager will co-develop United's predictive maintenance strategy and roadmap, including installation of new aircraft sensors and avionics, enhancements to health monitoring software, deployment of new predictive models, collaboration with OEMs, integration of health monitoring into United's approved maintenance program, and technology to provide aircraft data directly to technicians.
- Create new maintenance workload based on prognostic fault data by monitoring OEM and inhouse software, recommending troubleshooting steps to technicians, and identifying required maintenance manuals, parts, tooling, ground time, labor hours, and other resources
- Manage 12 or more AHM Analysts running a 24/7/365 operation that tracks the health of United's fleet, responds to technician questions, and interfaces with other Tech Ops teams to ensure the right fix for the aircraft at the right maintenance opportunity
- Direct strategy for new AHM tools/technologies, collaborate to build new predictive models for aircraft system failures, and develop strategies to incorporate health monitoring technologies and processes into United's maintenance program
- Interact with business stakeholders to support both operational execution (maintenance control, maintenance planning, tech support, inventory management, station leadership, technicians) and strategic development (engineering, data analytics, IT) of health monitoring and predictive maintenance initiatives
NOTE: This position is located at the CSC-Willis Tower in Chicago, IL and considered as a hybrid role working 3 days in-office, however that may evolve with the needs of the company.
