Our team designs, develop and maintain massively scaling technology solutions brought to life with innovative architecture, data analytics, and digital solutions.

This role is part of the Product Development team focused on Airline Network Planning and Scheduling solutions. The candidate will work closely with technical teams and Operations Research specialists to analyze business requirements and develop mathematical optimization, statistics, and decision-support models using mathematical programming and statistical tools.

• United’s Network Planning team is expanding, and we are looking for a Senior Developer to join us!
• The Senior Software Developer will be responsible for developing critical applications while collaborating with a team of developers.
• This role will design, develop, document, test, and debug both new and existing applications.
• The position focuses on building high-quality Operations Research (OR) solutions and offers the opportunity to work with the core team responsible for generating schedules.
• The objective is to optimize scheduling by considering multiple factors such as aircraft allocation, connectivity, permissions, availability, and cost efficiency using CPLEX as the modeling tool.
• The role involves solving complex optimization problems through CPLEX-based models.

Responsibilities:

• Build and test mathematical programming, statistics, and decision support models following software development standards
• Lead and work with development team on implementing the model into applications.
• Act as a Lead in modeling of business decisions, action plans, and improved operations
• Researcher, giving insights to business and propose solutions on models’ efficiency.

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

• Bachelor’s degree or master’s Degree from a college or university with a focus in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics or related field.
• Master’s Degree or PhD preferred
• 8+ years of experience on applied operations research including decision analysis, optimization, simulation, and statistics, and stochastic modeling
• Strong theoretical background and practical experience in advanced large-scale optimization methods like nonlinear and mixed-integer optimization
• 4+ years of experience in commercial optimization software such as IBM ILOG CPLEX, GUROBI, LINDO, or Xpress (Experience on CPLEX is preferred)
• 3+ years of working experience on technologies like Python, Julia
• Good to have C++ along with Python or Julia
• Good to have or must be willing to learn Machine Learning.
