Job overview and responsibilities

As a Senior Product Developer at United Airlines, you will serve as a technical architect and high-impact contributor, engineering robust backend data layers and transforming complex operational data into effective front-end solutions for operational decision-making. This role demands a blend of strategic vision and hands-on execution as you design, build, and deploy the sophisticated web applications and high-performance datasets that empower leadership to improve performance in real-time. By bridging the gap between raw data and executive action, you will collaborate with diverse stakeholders to turn massive datasets into a decisive competitive advantage for our global operations.

• Develop and support internal web-based applications that provide centralized access to operational data, including intranet data portals, search functionality, and integration of generative AI models to assist users in exploring and analyzing data
• Establish and maintain data governance and documentation standards to ensure operational datasets, analytical models, and reporting tools are accurate, traceable, and sustainable. This includes maintaining data definitions, documenting data sources and logic, supporting data quality validation, and promoting consistent use of enterprise data assets
• Translate business requirements and generate actionable insights into drivers of operational performance through root cause analysis, business knowledge, modeling, and statistical techniques. Focus is on optimizing key areas such as reliability, planning, and execution
• Communicate updates and actionable outcomes with easy-to-interpret visualizations and practical recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

• Bachelor's degree
• Finance, Statistics, Engineering, or other Quantitative/Analytical discipline
• 2+ years of analytical or airline experience

• Proficiency writing complex queries and in manipulating data (i.e. SQL, Python, Databricks, etc.)

• Proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and Powerpoint

• Proficiency in full-stack development (.NET, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/jQuery) with experience building secure, cross-browser compatible web interfaces and integrating APIs using React

• Data visualization skills using one or more reporting tools (i.e. Spotfire, Tableau, PowerBI, ThinkCell, etc)

• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to work cross-functionally

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

• 1+ years in an operational group such as the SOC, NOC, Inflight, Flight Ops, Network Planning, Tech Ops, or Resource Planning

• Advanced data analytics and visualization skills

• Understanding of United or airline business and operations

• Familiarity with AI application integration
