And our Pricing & Revenue Management team is providing fuel for that journey by ensuring that we maximize our ticket revenue on every single flight across our network – both domestically and internationally – while giving our customers various product offerings for their travel. By analyzing market trends and forecasting consumer demand, this team works hard to ensure we are selling the right number of tickets at the right price to optimize our revenue and run a profitable airline.

Job overview and responsibilities

The Ancillary Products team, a part of United’s Pricing and Revenue Management organization, manages a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of travel add-ons including Economy Plus, upgrades, seat assignments, checked bags, Wi-Fi, travel insurance, and more.

As an Ancillary Products Senior Analyst, your mission is to improve revenue performance and customer satisfaction for United’s ancillary portfolio through offer optimization, data analyses, and implementation of product strategy. You will have the opportunity to influence strategy and investment for high-margin ancillary products, improve customers’ flight experience, and impact United's bottom line.

  • Business Acumen:
    • Function as a product owner for lower profile portfolio products. Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in all product aspects including financial performance, policies and procedures, NPS, and optimization initiatives
    • Implement product pricing tests and evaluate impact
    • Conduct competitive analyses and identify new product initiatives; forecast revenue opportunities and assist on business cases to justify investments
    • Collaborate on cross-functional marketing efforts and optimization to drive revenue through email, digital marketing, social media, and other digital content
  • Analysis:
    • Maintain forecast models for ancillary product revenue each period
    • Utilize array of applications to mine and analyze product and performance data
    • Develop dashboards to visually represent key performance indicators
    • Support and execute timely ad-hoc analyses"
  • Leadership:
    • Foster teamwork, contribute to strategic discussions and deliver results
    • Take the initiative upon identifying areas of opportunity
    • Work collaboratively across functions and create an inclusive environment with people at all levels of the organization
    • Drive smaller workstreams independently and larger workstreams with support in the context of a broader team project
  • Project Management & Communications:
    • Participate in cross-functional initiatives, collaborating effectively with multiple stakeholders and providing timely and succinct updates
    • Develop and present effective materials to stakeholders and team leaders

NOTE: This position provides a hybrid work arrangement including working approximately 50% of the time onsite at our Chicago office location and remotely.

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 3-5 years of experience required, preferably in an analytical role
  • Analytical mindset, quantitative orientation required with working knowledge of at least one database querying language (SQL, Python, etc.)
  • Strong passion to solve business problems with data
  • Self-motivated – If you don’t know the answer, you’ll reach out and find somebody who does
  • Poised and confident presenting insights to team leaders and working group stakeholders
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience in Airline Merchandising, Revenue Management, Management Consulting, or similar commercially-focused roles a plus
  • Technical experience or aptitude to learn data visualization (Tableau, Spotfire) and website analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Quantum Metric)
  • Basic project management skills and experience preferred
  • Familiarity with airlines and/or ancillary products

The base pay range for this role is $81,795.00 to $106,602.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
