This position is a key member of the Optum Health Accounting Team who has technical curiosities and is excited by uncharted processes and challenges. You must love problem solving and be eager to learn what drives our business and processes.

As an accountant you will be responsible for timely and accurately preparation of financial statements in conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and various reporting and analysis process.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Participates in the monthly close activities
• Creates, documents journals entries
• Prepare and reconcile accounts monthly
• Assist with the consolidation of non-integrated entities into our general ledger
• Prepare and lead accounting for small business within Optum Health
• Partner with finance teams to load key statistical measures
• Assist with month-end reports for the segment
• Participate on working groups to develop and communicate innovative approaches for continued improvement in efficiency and effectiveness
• Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and proposing solutions

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
• Experience with Excel, Word and Powerpoint
• Experience with Month End Closing and preparation of financial statements
• Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP)
• Proven well-developed communication abilities with solid written and presentation skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills
• Demonstrate solid attention to details and effective multi-tasking

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA
• Healthcare experience
• Knowledge of Peoplesoft, and SmartView
