The Enterprise Information Security business is hiring for a Lead Software Engineer who has a passion for learning, is a solid problem solver, and a critical thinker with broad technical experience. We need someone who has a background and experience with both legacy and new product development utilizing DevOps delivery. This role requires Agile team leadership, hands on technical skill, and deep problem-solving skills for a large, complex Microsoft .NET full stack application development project. Core application capabilities are focused on E2E Identity and Access Management (IAM).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Designs, develops, and implements solutions that exemplify modern software engineering practices
  • Enhances system design/architecture to simplify and improve resiliency in system interactions and dependencies
  • Demonstrates ability to quickly learn and appropriately apply new technologies to solve engineering
  • Delivery requires automated test (manual testing as needed) mindfulness
  • Engineering focus on enriching the Customer Experience through high quality functional delivery, efficiency, testability, reliability, scalability, availability, and security of applications
  • Reuses and/or develops for reuse of complex components or capabilities to solve complex problems and needs
  • Implements and continuously improves agile software delivery, code management, and operations practices
  • Contributes to or helps drive architecture/design, technology, and tool decisions and implementations
  • Maintains current perspective on technology trends, applying that to personal and team capability growth. Actively participate in code review
  • Foster high performance, collaborative technical work
  • Mentors junior team members in modern engineering practices, technologies, and patterns
  • Owns the technical debt backlog and high-level plan
  • Present and demonstrate work to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 10+ years of equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience with C# and .NET Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • 4+ years of experience with RESTful Web API Development
  • 4+ years of experience using SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, & SQL profiling / performance tuning
  • 2+ years of experience with Entity Framework or equivalent experience with other data access technologies
  • 2+ years of experience with Front end development (React / Blazer Web Assembly preferred)
  • Expertise in Agile and DevOps methodologies
  • Demonstrated skills in active listening with the ability to express oneself clearly and effectively
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in collaborating, influencing, problem solving and negotiating

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Git Source Code Management, Test Automation, Azure DevOps Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)
  • Experience with Azure Cloud Engineering, CI/CD, Microservice background, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Tools (e.g. Terraform)
  • Identity and Access Management experience
  • Directory Services Development, Authentication and Provisioning experience
  • Requirements and technical specification documentation experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, MS Visio)
  • Proven ability to foster accountability, transparent communication, innovation and leading by example
  • Proven solid organizational skills and focus on accuracy and attention to detail

Candidates that are local are preferred (even if telecommuter) with the ability to work at the Eden Prairie Optum Campus with a flexible # of days / week or for the occasional Sprint Planning / Ceremony, etc. Otherwise, East coast and Central time zones are easier to coordinate work with India and US – this is to facilitate as much overlap with work times as possible across geographies.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
