Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assists UnitedHealth Group’s (UHG) in-house real estate counsel with the following key responsibilities:
    • Draft lease amendments, estoppel certificates, option extensions, termination letters, demand letters, and other ancillary leasing documentation relating to UHG’s real estate portfolio
    • Review and analyze leases and similar leasing documentation for basic terms, UHG’s rights, responsibilities, and obligations thereunder, as well as landlord’s responsibilities and obligations
    • Work with UHG’s real estate counsel to create forms and procedures to establish efficiencies and work flows
    • Create and maintain a legal tracking spreadsheet for all matters relating to UHG’s real estate portfolio in order to track projects as well as internal v. external spend
    • Assist UHG’s real estate counsel with high priority due diligence projects
    • Communicate with UHG’s internal teams as well as UHG’s third-party real estate management team, to update the status of all real estate projects and ensure deadlines are being met
    • Assists UHG’s real estate counsel with review of outside counsel’s invoices
    • Conduct legal research as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Paralegal Certification
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial real estate matters including commercial leasing, construction, acquisitions/dispositions, financings, and due diligence
  • Law firm and/or in-house legal experience
  • Demonstrated legal drafting skills
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Office Word
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel
  • Proficiency working in systems such as document generation and matter management systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Notary
  • Currently located in Minnesota with the ability to work an in-office hybrid schedule

  • Solid problem-solving and negotiation skills

Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $70,200 to $137,800 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
