As a Principal Technical Data Analyst at Optum, you’ll be responsible for working with key business and technical partners to develop industry-leading data solutions that provide insights and analytics that drive efficiency and value to clients.

Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Dublin or Letterkenny offices and telecommuting from a home-based office in a hybrid work model.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Ability to turn data into information, information into insight, and insight into business decisions
• Gather data from various sources, including databases, APIs, and third-party sources and ensure the upkeep of databases and data systems.
• Engage with managers from various departments to specify data requirements for analysis projects tailored to their unique business processes
• Design scripts and tools to automatically extract large volumes of data from data sources, improving efficiency and availability.
• Employ statistical techniques to scrutinize data and produce actionable business insights
• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver on solutions and use requirements to shape solution development efforts.
• Perform QA and testing of data solutions and partner with key stakeholders owners to validate User Acceptance testing of work products
• Work collaboratively with business partners, SMEs, and developers to ensure a shared understanding of business and technical requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Expert SQL and Python experience
• Strong experience with data modelling and visualization to be able to effectively interpret complex data sets and enable business insights
• Exhibit exceptional analytical abilities to compile, structure, examine, and present substantial data sets with precision and thoroughness.
• Capable of critically evaluating data to derive meaningful, actionable insights.
• Demonstrate superior communication and presentation capabilities, adept at simplifying complex data insights for audiences without a technical background.
• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, or a comparable discipline with prior experience in data analysis or a related field being advantageous.
• Strong project management skills and experience in leading data analysis projects and solutions
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating good level of maturity

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Data Modelling and Data engineering techniques
• Experience with Agile development methodology
• Healthcare / Pharmacy experience
