The continuous growth and success of our organization has led to this search for a Senior Financial Consultant to join our team. The successful candidate will be involved in the pricing activities of RFPs (Requests For Proposals) for high profile cases with routine presentations to senior executives. This position will provide the opportunity to acquire a breadth of knowledge in all financial/operational aspects of our business. The department is headed by the Chief Pricing & Underwriting Officer/Senior Vice President of OptumRx. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Determine pricing for the various products and services we offer, customized for each individual case using a variety of forecast models
  • Leverage business knowledge to propose solutions to unique business problems regularly in a dynamic work environment
  • Build and maintain financial models to assist in the economic analysis competitive RFP work, as well as market checks, and ongoing ad hoc financial analysis for our Health Plan clients
  • Evaluate and recommend alternative pricing options based on market analyses and trends
  • Assess the risk of pricing guarantees offered and communicate such risks to pricing leadership
  • Collaborate with the Sales, Proposals and Legal teams to project pricing and profit for a range of services and products the company offers
  • Gather, summarize and analyze detailed data in a variety of formats
  • Work on integrated UHG proposals and intersegment agreements
  • Ongoing reviews that directly aligns with client strategies as well as OptumRx guidelines
  • Validate renewal and prospect RFP’s for underwriting accuracy
  • Work on large cases and present pricing recommendations to executive management

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of financial analysis or accounting experience
  • 3+ years of experience in the Pharmacy Benefit Management industry, pharmaceutical industry
  • 3+ years of underwriting pharmacy proposals
  • Proven solid analytical skills using MS Excel, MS Office product suite, and other technology tools
  • Proven solid financial, analytical, and business acumen
  • Proven ability to coordinate with multiple task with multiple departments and identify various business owners.
  • Proven ability to visually present the financial analysis in a way that is easy to understand in addition to verbally communicating all risks and strategies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Client facing experience
  • Proven excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • Proven ability to take ownership of work with little oversight
  • Proven ability to work with sales and account management in a strategic and productive manner that contributes to a positive working relationship
  • Proven ability to create “out of the box” ad hoc analysis that enhances our ability to communicate financial strategies both internally and to our external clients and consultants

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
