Lead and manage a team of software engineers responsible for the development and maintenance of healthcare claims processing applications on IBM iSeries platforms. Oversee the full software development lifecycle, ensuring high-quality deliverables, system stability, and compliance with healthcare industry standards. Provide technical leadership and foster innovation through mentorship and exploration of emerging technologies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Management
    • Manage and mentor a team of professional software engineers and/or supervisors
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture
    • Oversee resource allocation, project timelines, and delivery milestones
  • Software Development & Lifecycle Management
    • Lead end-to-end development activities including analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and maintenance
    • Ensure adherence to engineering standards, tools, and methodologies
    • Drive automation and efficiency through reusable utilities and process improvements
  • Technical Expertise & Guidance
    • Provide hands-on technical guidance in RPG, CL, and Synon (CA 2E) development
    • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues within legacy systems
    • Ensure system performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Work closely with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver effective solutions
    • Translate business needs into technical specifications and actionable development plans
  • Innovation & Emerging Technologies
    • Support pilot initiatives involving AI, automation, and other emerging technologies relevant to claims processing
    • Evaluate new tools, techniques, and strategies to enhance system capabilities and organizational efficiency
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regard to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience developing and managing software on IBM iSeries (AS/400) platforms
  • Solid expertise in Synon (CA 2E) and RPG/CL programming languages
  • Experience with RxClaim or similar healthcare claims processing systems is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience managing software development teams
  • Proven excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills
  • Exposure to AI concepts or willingness to learn emerging technologies
