About the Role:
As a Senior Data Analyst, you will support the modernization of Optum Rx’s core underwriting tools and serve as a subject matter expert in these tools. These tools are critical for bid pricing and rebate forecasting and are currently Excel-based. You will translate actuarial and underwriting logic into scalable, cloud-based applications with user-friendly front ends, working closely with underwriters, actuaries, technology, and analytics partners to ensure accuracy, transparency, and usability.
As our Senior Data Analyst, you will join an established team within OptumRx responsible for managing our network pharmacy pricing guarantees. You will provide financial modelling and analytics related to the performance of effective rate pricing guarantees, specific to the Commercial business. You will work with internal stakeholders to drive to best outcomes and ensure alignment with our pharmacy contractual obligations.
Within the role, you will build relationships with our partners and stakeholders across many functions, including Network Contracting, Client Contract Management, Finance, Legal and more. We’re looking for someone with a quantitative mindset, a strong aptitude for complex problem solving, industry experience, and well-developed communication and technical skills.

Primary Responsibilities Senior Data Analyst – Financial Modelling:

Responsible for managing the performance of effective rate pricing guarantees, within network pharmacies, for Optum’s Commercial book of business

Ownership of the relevant financial modeling and ensuring ongoing iteration as required, to maintain highest level of efficacy in projections

Efficiently develop analysis and scenario modelling and iterate upon this analysis to drive key business decisions

Lead the collaboration with internal teams to incorporate all relevant insights to modelling and subsequent pricing decisions. Leverage analytics and business information to provide solutions to complex problems

Actively communicate to leadership and relevant stakeholders on emerging risks or trends

Actively consult with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure appropriate application of contractual and regulatory obligations

Lead regular cadence update meetings with key stakeholders

Required Qualifications and Skills for the Senior Data Analyst, Financial Modelling:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Experience in financial modelling
- Experience in SQL and/or Python, with the ability to perform effective and efficient querying involving multiple tables and subqueries

Advanced MS Excel skills
Preferred Qualifications and Skills for the Senior Data Analyst, Financial Modelling:
- Experience with Microsoft Azure
- Experience in Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) or Pharmaceutical Industry

Ability to understand complex scenarios and quickly provide effective decisions
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills, able to work with stakeholders from multiple levels and disciplines
