About The Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated analytics professional to join our Clinical Analytics team. This role focuses on developing proof-of-concept (POC) solutions, conducting scenario modeling, and applying advanced analytics to solve complex clinical challenges within the Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) space. You will work on high-impact initiatives that inform clinical strategy, benefit design, and health outcomes, leveraging cutting-edge tools and methodologies.
Schedule: This is a full-time position with standard working hours of Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.
Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Dublin or Letterkenny office and telecommuting from a home-based office in a hybrid work model.
Primary Responsibilities of the Principal Analyst Clinical Analytics:

Design and build POCs to explore innovative clinical analytics solutions

Develop scenario models to evaluate the impact of clinical and formulary strategies

Apply statistical, econometric, and machine learning techniques to clinical datasets

Perform data extraction, transformation, and feature engineering using SQL and Python

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into analytical solutions
-
Document methodologies, code, and results in a clear and reproducible manner

Stay current with emerging analytics techniques and tools relevant to healthcare

Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and reusable analytical assets
Required Qualifications of the Principal Analyst Clinical Analytics:

Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a quantitative field or equivalent experience

Experience in data science, statistical modeling, or advanced analytics
-
Proficiency in Python for statistical and machine learning applications
-
Strong SQL skills for working with large, complex datasets
-
Demonstrated ability to validate models and interpret results rigorously
Preferred Qualifications of the Principal Analyst Clinical Analytics:

Experience in healthcare, PBM, or pharmaceutical analytics

Familiarity with cloud-based platforms such as Databricks or Spark
-
Experience with geospatial and demographic analytics (e.g., mapping health outcomes, regional disparities)

Exposure to version control tools (Git preferred) and collaborative coding practices

Experience contributing to shared codebases or analytical libraries
