Job Summary

The University Human Resources Records & Information Services (HRRIS) Unit is looking for a HR Records Senior Supervisor specializing in Benefits & Unemployment. Reporting to the Assistant Director of HRRIS Operations, you will lead teams responsible for benefit data transactions, unemployment claims, and the systems used to perform these responsibilities.

As a member of the unit's leadership team, you will shape our team's direction by encouraging innovation and professional development. You will ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations regarding employee records and handle daily team operations. We are a dedicated and collaborative team focused on data quality and customer service.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee the daily operations and management of the Benefits and Unemployment Compensation (UC) Teams, including HRIS clerks, analysts, and staff.
  • Track and audit HR records to mitigate risks and guarantee compliance with relevant federal, state, and university policies.
  • Troubleshoot, escalate, and resolve complex data and processing issues; deliver expert customer support.
  • Innovate and refine data processing methods, identify technical specifications for system and process enhancements, and implement new technologies.
  • Coach a heterogeneous, high-performing team; assess performance, provide feedback, and guide development based on organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with partners across the SSC, ITS, HR Benefits Office, Payroll, and other university partners, along with the State of Michigan and other external agencies.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, excellence and belonging.

Skills You Have

  • A Bachelor's degree in a business or science field or an equivalent combination of education, certification and experience
  • Minimum 5 years progressive work experience in HRIS including data processing, reporting, conducting audits, and troubleshooting system issues using HRMS PeopleSoft software or similar ERP system.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a supervisory or related role including responsibility for performance management, workload prioritization, and team coaching.
  • Experience processing high volumes of data with accuracy.
  • Experience pulling and interpreting data to identify trends and support process improvement programs.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

A hybrid work schedule is anticipated for this position, with onsite work approximately 2 days per week, subject to change dependent on business needs.
