Responsibilities*
Patient Care:
-Perform routine and periodontal prophylaxis for patients in a Dental Faculty practice
-Perform other services as indicated by patient needs
-Advise and instruct patient on appropriate oral health care
-Take digital radiographs, including CBCT, according to standard procedures or specific instructions.
-Other duties as needed to perform the duties of a hygienist
-Help in other areas of the practice as time and schedule allow
Customer Service
-Display excellent customer service, phone etiquette, and attitude to patients, faculty and staff
-Explain information clearly to patients, faculty and staff
-Perform any other duties as assigned
Team work
-Work as a team player, either helping or receiving help from other coworkers with the objective to expedite patient care
Self-Management
-Possess computer skills using Microsoft Office
-Have ability to work effectively with management, administration, faculty, peers, co-workers, and patients
-Exhibit a professional and positive image during all interactions
-Possess outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
- Have ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
Communication
-Help maintain open communication
-Report any issues to the practice manager or Director so they may be addressed promptly
Required Qualifications*
Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program. A current hygiene license to practice in the State of Michigan. Current CPR certification. Experience with EHR. Excellent communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent ability to mult-task. Excellent attendance record. Excellent customer service skills.
Desired Qualifications*
Two or more years experience in private practice

Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
Additional Information
This is a 80% FTE or 32 hours per week position. The prorated 80% salary range is $59,225.60 to $85,972.80.
Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
