Job Summary

The Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan invites applicants for a full-time LEO Lecturer III position in Accounting, beginning Fall 2026. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, developing, and coordinating accounting courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels at the Ross School of Business. Additionally, the position includes managing industry relations for the accounting group. The academic year 2026-2027 extends from 8/25/2026 to 5/24/2027. This is a one-year renewable appointment, subject to renewal under the Lecturers Employee Organization collective bargaining agreement. We expect to extend an offer by May 30, 2026.

Responsibilities*

Candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate core courses in accounting, as well as elective courses in accounting at the graduate level. The candidate will be required to coordinate teaching with other faculty members regularly. The candidate will be expected to manage a portion of the industry relationships for the accounting group, as well as develop and maintain active engagement with the accounting industry in bridging academic research and practice for the accounting group. This will include developing and executing summaries of practice and research.

Required Qualifications*

Qualified candidates must have a PhD in Business or Accounting from a US-based R1 institution and at least eight years of University-level teaching experience in both undergraduate and graduate programs at a business school in a US-based R1 university. Graduate teaching experience should include both Master's of Accounting and Master's of Business Administration students. The candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge of curriculum development via evidence of significant modifications or preexisting material and creation of new materials. Available to teach all of the calendar year (Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer), managing multiple preparations across multiple programs. Demonstrated experience developing relationships with both local and national accounting firms, local and national regulators, and the business community in general, both local and national.

Desired Qualifications*

Demonstrated experience in translating publications in top academic accounting journals into classroom material. Also demonstrated experience in using AI tools in the classroom.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
