Job Summary

The Recruiting Analyst supports the University of Michigan Football recruiting operation through prospect evaluation support, film and scouting organization, recruiting database management, and recruiting operations. This position partners closely with coaching staff, recruiting personnel, video/scouting, and compliance to ensure recruiting information, evaluation materials, and internal processes are accurate, organized, and delivered on deadline. The Recruiting Analyst must demonstrate strong attention to detail, sound judgment, confidentiality, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.

Responsibilities*

Prospect Evaluation Support

  • Assist coaching and recruiting staff in evaluation of high school and transfer portal prospects.

  • Analyze prospect film and prepare concise written evaluation summaries for coaching staff.

  • Support position coaches with prospect identification, prioritization, and maintenance of target lists and evaluation notes.


Film & Scouting Support

  • Organize, tag, and maintain prospect film in recruiting and video systems.

  • Create positional and situational cutups to support evaluation, meetings, and ongoing recruiting work.

  • Maintain a structured prospect film library and associated scouting materials for efficient retrieval and continuity.


Recruiting Database Management

  • Maintain and update prospect profiles within the recruiting database, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistent data standards.

  • Assist with organization of recruiting boards, tiers, and prospect statuses for staff review.

  • Track recruiting activity and key prospect updates to support reporting and decision-making.


Recruiting Operations & Event Support

  • Assist with identification pool organization and prospect tracking across recruiting cycles.

  • Support preparation of recruiting reports, meeting packets, and evaluation materials.

  • Assist with recruiting events, camps, and unofficial/official visits as needed, including responsibilities during peak periods.

Coaches Recruiting Travel Support & Compliance Coordination

  • Assist coaching staff with day-to-day recruiting travel support before and after travel.

  • Monitor, reconcile, and report coaching travel activity in coordination with compliance and internal procedures.

  • Help ensure required documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted on time in alignment with applicable rules and university/department processes.


Special Projects

  • Support recruiting initiatives and projects as assigned (e.g., process improvements, templates, internal documentation, reporting enhancements).

  • Contribute to ongoing organization of recruiting information and internal reporting to support continuity and efficiency.

Required Qualifications*

  • Proven expertise in evaluating football film, with the ability to produce detailed, actionable written analyses that inform front office personnel and coaching staff of athlete talents, weaknesses, and tendencies. Thus enabling strategic decision-making.

  • Advanced organizational and project management capabilities, with a demonstrated track record of prioritizing competing deadlines and delivering high-quality work in fast-paced environments.

  • Ability to strategically and precisely book and manage coach travel itineraries that include multiple flights, hotels, vehicles, and visits.

  • Strong technical proficiency in data management, including detailed and advanced spreadsheets and databases, with the aptitude to quickly master specialized recruiting and video analysis platforms.

  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional communication skills, in order to collaborate effectively with coaching, recruiting, and operations staff at all levels of the organization.

  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and discretion, with experience handling confidential and sensitive recruit and athlete information in a secure and responsible manner.

  • Demonstrated commitment to the demands of elite football operations, including flexibility to work extended and nontraditional hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays) during critical recruiting periods, events, and the competitive season.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Prior experience in recruiting operations, scouting/video, athletics administration, or a related football support role.

  • Experience with film tagging, cutup creation, recruiting board management, and database workflows.

  • Familiarity with compliance-focused documentation and process adherence (training provided/required).

Work Location & Schedule

This position is based on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor. Work hours vary based on the recruiting calendar and program needs and will include periodic nights, weekends, and holidays, particularly during peak recruiting periods and major visit weekends.
