About the Marketing and Market Strategy Team

The Marketing and Market Strategy (M&MS) team works with all the center's teams to help enhance the center's awareness and reputation, lead enrollments in online learning experiences, lead user experience and product design, and conduct market research.

Responsibilities*

  • Undertake market research and analysis of secondary sources, including labor market trends, government and third-party data, and competitive landscapes, to inform market and marketing communications, content, and B2B partnership strategies. You will calibrate research efforts based on the scope of the problem and available timelines to deliver clear, actionable insights.
  • Lead end-to-end primary research, including framing objectives and defining appropriate qualitative and quantitative methodologies. This includes recruiting, fielding, monitoring, and reporting on various studies to inform portfolio decisions and initiative demand.
  • Maintain and disseminate knowledge of industry trends and serve as an expert resource for the center and partners across U-M, managing an internal knowledge center for all benchmarking and research materials.
  • Manage market research and analysis operations, including project flow and intake requests.
  • Manage relationships and project work between CAI, university partners, and third-party research agencies, including proposal development, scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Synthesize and translate complex research findings into clear, actionable insights and reports tailored for diverse audiences, from peers and senior leadership, to represent student and learner interests and influence strategic direction.
  • Supervise student fellows working on market research and analysis projects as required.

What You'll Do

The Center for Academic Innovation at the University of Michigan is seeking a qualified Market Research Analyst Senior, who will lead research projects that inform strategic decision-making. In this important role, the analyst will develop qualitative and quantitative research to inform the center's portfolio and strategic programs. You will have strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret large amounts of data and translate findings into relevant insights. You will also manage partnerships with third-party research agencies.

Required Qualifications*

  • 5 or more years of experience in market research
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Marketing, Market Research, or a related field
  • Interpret large amounts of data
  • Knowledge of statistical packages (e.g., Python, R, SPSS, SAS)
  • Knowledge of data collection methods (polls, focus groups, surveys)
  • Ability to learn and appropriately use new technologies to improve processes, communication, and outcomes, including AI-enabled tools where relevant to the role, consistent with university policy and job responsibilities.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

The mode of work for this position is Hybrid with a minimum of 4 days in the office per week, Monday through Thursday, with an option of remote work on Fridays. On occasion, you may be required and must be available to work onsite on Fridays if necessitated by our center's policy and domain leadership or by your job requirements.

Please Note: This is a 5 year term limited position with the possibility of renewal depending on funding.

Additional Information

Salary Information

The general salary range for this position is $83,000 - $87,000. Candidates can expect to be paid a competitive and equitable salary. Factors used to determine salary include education level, experience, knowledge and skills for the position and salaries that are currently established within the unit. All candidates are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor alignment and transparency throughout the recruiting process.
