Job Summary

The Training Specialist provides foundational training and education to healthcare customers through virtual and remote platforms. This role focuses on delivering clear, engaging, and accurate training to support customer understanding of healthcare processes, systems, or services. The Training Specialist works closely with internal teams to ensure training content meets basic healthcare standards and supports customer success in a virtual environment.

Responsibilities*

  • Deliver live and recorded virtual training sessions to healthcare customers using video conferencing and learning platforms
  • Facilitate basic healthcare-related training on systems, workflows, policies, or services, tailored to a remote audience
  • Use prepared training materials such as slide decks, guides, and job aids to support consistent learning
  • Respond to customer questions during and after training sessions in a clear and professional manner
  • Track training attendance, participation, and completion using learning management systems or tracking tools
  • Provide feedback to internal stakeholders on common learner questions, challenges, and training needs
  • Support updates to training materials based on changes in healthcare processes, compliance, or customer feedback
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and other trainers to maintain accurate and up-to-date content
  • Adhere to healthcare privacy, confidentiality, and compliance standards during all training activities

Required Qualifications*

  • Associate or bachelors degree in education, healthcare, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in training, education, customer support, or healthcare-related roles
  • Basic knowledge of healthcare environments, terminology, or workflows
  • Experience delivering training or presentations in a virtual or remote setting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfort using virtual meeting tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams) and other learning technologies: Microsoft 360, Snag-it, Camtasia, Captivate, Articulate, Adobe
  • Other duties assigned by training lead or training manager

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience supporting healthcare customers or patients in a remote environment
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), healthcare systems, or compliance concepts
  • Prior experience creating or updating basic training materials

Modes of Work

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
