EdD Cohort Manager

The School of Education and Human Development at the University of Virginia seek applicants for a EdD Cohort Manager for the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education.
This position is responsible for the management and delivery of a high-quality online educational experience through the University of Virginia School of Education and Human Development. Under the direction of the Department Chair and program coordinator, the incumbent engages with faculty and students in support of the online EdD program. Duties include recruitment, student advising, matriculation, academic success, marketing, programming, and graduation. The incumbent must possess a high-level understanding of both the degree and program content. They will provide direction and support for the degree program for both prospective and current EdD students. Due to the nature of the position, the incumbent has the authority to execute independently and typically works as part of a high-level cross-functional team. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a terminal degree in curriculum and instruction or related education fields.
Responsibilities include:
Conduct individual advising meetings prior to course registration and as needed
Ensure students are registered for appropriate classes
Liaise with academic advisors to support students
Schedule group/individual office hours at least twice per month
Update and edit program documents and manage program record keeping
Become very familiar with all assessments and be able to talk through the processes of the assessment
Respond regularly to student emails and maintain an up-to-date communication log
Respond to applicant questions about the online EDD program (possibly organizing online info sessions)
Advise students and advisors on capstone and other program milestones.
Serve on milestone committees
Coordinate the admission and application review process
Welcome new students to the program and outline orientation activities/expectations (possibly including summer welcome sessions)
Review classes that are transferred in and build proposed plan of study for students
Organizes and leads regular online social events with students and faculty to build community
Other possible responsibilities include:
Teach one or more courses
Provide support for UVA teacher education program and/or reading program
Minimum Requirements
Education: Master’s Degree Required. Bachelor’s Degree and relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of Master’s Degree.
Experience: Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Education: Ed.D. or Ph.D.
Physical Demands: This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
Anticipated Salary Range: $70,000 - $75,000 annually commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Work Arrangement: This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2-3 days in office per week, with additional on-site presence as needed, in accordance with UVA’s remote work guidelines.
