The University of Virginia Darden School of Business seeks a Global Programs Manager who will serve as a member of the global programs team in the Darden Center for Global Initiatives (CGI). The job will have the primary role of ensuring the successful implementation of global programming organized by CGI across the residential Full-Time MBA students, largely focused on Darden Worldwide Courses, Professional Degree (EMBA, Part-Time, MSBA) students, largely focused on Darden Global Residencies, experiential learning via the Global Client Projects, and as-needed support for other CGI initiatives at large.

The Center for Global Initiatives sponsors academic programs in more than two dozen countries for Darden MBA students every academic year with over 400 enrollments. This role will provide excellent administrative and programmatic development to the global offerings with CGI leadership oversight and will collaborate closely with the global programs team, faculty leaders, students, and program vendors, to ensure the seamless execution of the assigned programs and initiatives.

The Manager will oversee a portfolio of global programs, under the guidance of CGI leadership, to execute each faculty leader’s vision for the course. This includes providing recommendations on program structure and development, creating successful program designs, managing all administrative aspects of the implementation of global programs, and managing systems related to travel, student registrations, insurance enrollments, etc., as well as working closely with vendor contacts and other external stakeholders to confirm program logistics, meetings, and details. This role will have a high degree of student contact and will likely have the opportunity to travel to support a Darden Worldwide Course/ Global Residency on the ground each year.

This position is located in-person at Darden’s Goodwin Family Grounds (GFG) in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Responsibilities:

Administrative and Programmatic Management for Short-term Faculty Lead Programs (DWC/GR)

  • Lead programmatic setup, implementation and closeout by working closely with CGI leadership, program faculty leaders, vendors and other stakeholders to confirm all details of program itineraries and execution. At the direction of the leadership and faculty, assist with securing and finalizing business meetings for program itineraries; oversee learning management system pages; and assist in preparing program materials, pre-departure meetings, and logistical travel information for students. Prepare student communications, advise students on travel resources as needed as well as working through complicated individual situations with students.

  • For assigned courses, oversee all administrative tasks, including but not limited to: UVA’s Travel Registration system; emergency contact plans; emergency insurance enrollment; Travel Waivers as needed for programs in countries under a travel advisory; manage any other relevant systems related to program operations, risk management and compliance; responsible for speaker gift selections and tracking on assigned courses; create and manage program evaluations and arrange post-program debriefs with faculty and document feedback from program to ensure continuous improvement.

  • Ensure faculty and staff coordinators have all required information for smooth engagements and can arrive in-country prepared to lead programs.

  • Develop promotional materials and manage promotional strategy to students; update CGI’s SharePoint portal and Canvas pages; have a consistent presence at student activities (including nights and weekends) to promote and answer questions regarding global opportunities.

  • Operate independently or in conjunction with a supporting staff member as needed.

Administrative and Programmatic Management for Global Client Projects (GCP)

  • Support academic process for GCP by working with faculty lead to design and schedule year-long course plan including class sessions, syllabus, assignments, Canvas design, integration of Professional Degree (EMBA/PTMBA) and Residential MBA timelines, liaise with faculty Administrative Operations Coordinator to troubleshoot academic issues.

  • Support or manage project sourcing.

  • Manage student marketing, project application, and client selection process; Liaise with Registrar, Financial Aid, and other stakeholders to ensure student participation.

Other program support

  • Support other CGI sponsored initiatives as needed, such as international partner programs, international events, leadership travel activities, working with Darden CGI Fellows, international students at Darden, and CGI Student Ambassador Program.

  • May be asked to attend and support executive MBA program weekends during Rosslyn residencies on an as-needed basis, and, as needed, attend and support programming for part-time MBA students in Rosslyn in the evenings.

  • Act as a true team player across various internal and external stakeholders; prioritizing both long-term relationships management and logistical needs.

Professional Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least three years of program coordination experience required

  • Seven years of student advising or program coordination experience may substitute for a Bachelor's degree

  • Graduate student advising or graduate student experience considered a plus.

  • Comprehensive administrative support experience required

  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse clients and leadership stakeholders to ensure successful execution of projects/programs

  • Demonstrated project and event management experience

  • Strong interest in international education

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and comfort speaking in front of large groups
