- Provides high-level analytical support, including the design, creation and generation of complex reports and charts.
- Prepares financial schedules, analyses, graphs, and reports for Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Finance Committee and Clinical Chairs.
- Prepares consolidated financial statements (combining administrative, subsidiary and clinical information) for Senior Staff and Board of Directors.
- Communicates with managers and directors regarding financial and audit issues.
- Communicates with corporate management regarding financial reporting issues.
- Utilizes general ledger and financial report writing software applications to develop and maintain customized financial management reports.
- Compiles relevant data from various sources to aid in and enhance analysis of financial data.
- Oversees the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly and yearly reports from the general ledger on a cash and accrual basis.
- Monitors corporate, subsidiary and ancillary business unit financial operations.
- Manages the schedule, assignment and completion of Finance and Accounting’s role and responsibilities related to the annual audit and communicates directly with independent and internal auditors.
- Facilitates completion of government and other related survey requests.
- Coordinates the preparation of annual federal and state tax returns for UPG and its subsidiaries with independent auditors.
- Researches accounting and tax issues and consults with appropriate parties (such as government agencies or consultants) on same.
- Prepares journal entries, financial statements and analyses for the Group, its subsidiaries and ancillary business units.
- Assumes primary responsibility for various complex account reconciliations.
- Develops, analyzes, revises and maintains a system for allocating UPG administrative overhead costs to various business units and clinical departments.
- Maintains thorough working knowledge of all general ledger functions.
- Provides accounting software guidance to team members as it pertains both to use of the general ledger and reporting modules.
- Prepares and documents applicable policies and procedures for corporate finance activities as appropriate.
- Works on joint teams within Finance and Accounting and with other internal and external business partners to resolve financial, budget and audit issues.
- Maintains appropriate skills in accounting and financial software applications by attending training sessions, using, and exploring the tools available.
- Maintains an in‑depth understanding of the UPG finance and accounting operations.
- Completes other tasks and assignments as requested by manager.
- Ensures that corporate financial data, reports, and supporting information are produced and maintained in a manner that is accurate, consistent, confidential and protected.
- Manages and maintains report parameters for corporate level financial reporting and analysis.
- Develops and produces a corporate financial benchmarking report regarding the financial status of the Group.
- Conducts analyses to determine the financial impact of proposed and actual changes in business activities.
- Represents Corporate Finance and management at appropriate UPG and Health System meetings.
- Plays a significant role in project management and team leadership.
- Develops project plans and analyses to satisfy financial control, reporting and analysis needs.
- Develops new reporting and analysis tools and models, and trains the Finance and Accounting team members in their proper use and aids in their implementation.
- Provides training, and technical and analytical support, to Finance and Accounting team members. Assists in developing and implementing an on-going training curriculum for Finance and Accounting.
- Acts as liaison with general ledger, financial reporting and related internal and external consultants to resolve reporting and analysis issues and to enhance existing capabilities.
- Provides support to UPG, the Medical Center, and the School of Medicine in assisting with the reconciliation of certain financial MOUs between these entities.
- Develops, implements and maintains policies and procedures.
Serves as back-up support to other team members as requested.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree with concentration in business administration, accounting or finance
Experience:
Five years’ financial reporting and analysis or five years in equivalent position and relevant experience.
CPA Certification preferred
Licensure:
None
Skills:
Advanced level of computer proficiency, including proficiency in spreadsheet and database software programs.
Advanced knowledge of general ledger, budgeting and financial reporting systems.
Knowledge of computer language necessary for proficiently designing formulas and queries and for researching and capturing financial data.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
