The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Virginia is accepting applications for research scientist position for machine learning methods for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

The Computational Biomedical Imaging Group (CBIG) pursues research on the development of new algorithms for the reconstruction and post-processing of medical and biological images. Active research areas include image reconstruction, image analysis, and quantification. Research efforts are taking place at two complementary levels: the development of mathematical tools for imaging, and applied projects in collaboration with clinical researchers for magnetic resonance imaging.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop novel theory, algorithms, and demonstrate its application to MR imaging
  • Publish results in high-impact journals
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Ph.D. or a Master’s degree with significant experience in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, or applied math is required by the start date.
  • Experience in signal processing, machine learning, and MRI is needed.
  • The position will be funded by NIH awards on high-resolution brain relaxometry, free-breathing cardiac MRI, and MR spectroscopic imaging using machine learning; candidates with experience in these areas are encouraged to apply.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD degree is preferred
