Events & Program Operations Specialist

The UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center seeks an The Events & Program Operations Specialist to support the Cancer Center’s Research Administration and Strategic Planning Operations team by managing logistics, optimizing systems, and strengthening vendor and participant relationships. This role bridges the Events Manager, academic programs, and partner departments, ensuring consistent execution, high-quality experiences, and continuous improvement through feedback and partnerships.
Responsibilities
Coordinate logistics for recurring seminars, visiting speakers, and internal academic events
Assist the Events manager with planning and execution of all conferences, symposiums, and large events.
Assist the Research Administration and Strategic Planning Operations team with the daily operations of the Cancer Center. Which may include basic budget projection, supply and equipment ordering, maintaining databases, and supporting other ongoing administrative functions.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelors Degree required.
Experience: 1+ year of relevant professional experience required.
Physical Demands: This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers, however, there is a significant amount of walking when hosting speakers and setting up events. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
Salary Range : Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
Exemption Status: This is an exempt-level, benefited position. Learn more about UVA benefits.
Funding Details: This is a restricted position, which is dependent on funding and is contingent upon funding availability.
Work Arrangement: This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and must be performed fully on-site.
