Staff Psychotherapist-Group Coordinator

Staff Psychotherapist:
This position provides triage assessment and crisis intervention diagnostic and developmental evaluations, brief treatment (individual, couple or group therapy) and referral assistance for students. The Staff Psychotherapist also serves as a consultant to faculty, staff, parents, students, and other community members seeking assistance in addressing students’ psychological concerns.
Candidates should be team-oriented, have strong communication skills, practice good self-care, maintain healthy boundaries, and possess the ability to manage a challenging workload while promoting a positive relational and organizational atmosphere. Competitive candidates will have experience and interest in working with college students and integrative care settings.
Group Coordinator:
The Group Coordinator manages the CAPS Groups Program including planning group offerings every semester in collaboration with the CAPS Director and Associate Director for Counseling Services, providing logistical and clinical guidance to group leaders, maintaining group related data, and updating and disseminating advertising materials. The Group Coordinator facilitates the group psychotherapy seminar for CAPS trainees.
Staff Psychotherapist responsibilities include:
- Provide individual and group counseling and psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and clinical consultation.
- Conduct screening and comprehensive diagnostic psycho-educational evaluations.
- Provide triage and intake assessments
- Provide daytime and afterhours crisis services
- Provide consultation to faculty and staff
- Facilitate referrals to mental health services in the community
- Provide outreach to the UVA community
- Provide direct supervision and interactive teaching to trainees in psychology
- Participate in committees and lead special projects
- Maintain ethical and timely documentation of all clinical work in our electronic medical record system
- Perform all duties in accordance with the Clinical Staff Bylaws, policies, and procedures
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Masters Degree Required
- Experience: 3 years of post graduate experience in counseling
- Licensure: Valid License as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the Commonwealth of Virginia or license-eligible. Must be licensed within 6 months of hire.
- The successful candidate will pass both a background check and a drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology
- Experience:
- 3 years of experience providing individual psychotherapy to adolescents or adults
- 1 year experience with risk assessment and crisis intervention
- Experience coordinating care with psychiatrists and/or other medical professionals
- Licensure: Valid License as a Clinical Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia
Compensation and Benefits:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $75,000-$100,000 and is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is an exempt-level position with UVa benefits. Employees’ benefits package highlights include:
