The Department of Music at the University of Virginia is looking to fill the position of Fiscal Assistant and Events Coordinator. This position serves a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Music Department and Cavalier Marching Band. The ideal candidate will be a meticulous multi-tasker who is adept at prioritizing responsibilities, enthusiastic about supporting the department’s mission, and has a genuine interest in Finance and the inner workings of musical life at the University of Virginia.

  • Fiscal Support for Music Department
  • Fiscal Support for Cavalier Marching Band
  • Event Logistics Coordinator for Cavalier Marching Band
  • Administrative Support for Music Department
  • Fiscal Assistant to Department Manager

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Associate degree
  • Experience: Two years of previous work experience in an administrative role
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) strongly preferred
  • Previous experience with Music/Marching Band, experience gained as a student will be considered
  • Experience with UVA internal systems (Chrome River, Oracle, Workday) and familiarity with UVA policies

Job requires sitting for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull less than 20lbs.

Salary Range

  • The anticipated hiring range is $22.50 - $24.50 hourly, commensurate with education and experience.

  • This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and may be eligible for a hybrid schedule in the future, in accordance with UVA’s remote work guidelines.
