Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA/APP) Pediatric Critical Care

Preferred Qualifications
Experience: Advanced practice experience in a pediatric acute care clinical setting is strongly preferred. 2+ years of ICU nursing experience is also preferred.
Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen.
1) Administration
- Partner with the health system to optimize patient flow, operational efficiency, and access to care
- Support implementation of enhanced care delivery models designed to improve patient health outcomes and satisfaction
- Participate in performance improvement, data reporting, and outcomes tracking for quality metrics
2) Professional
- Work collaboratively with all levels of personnel
- Maintain active involvement in education, consultation, research and leadership initiatives throughout the department, organization, and profession
- Clearly articulate scope of practice, and practice within those guidelines as a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia and within the University of Virginia Health System
3) Clinical
- Exercise independent decision making in the assessment, diagnosis, and development of the plan of care for critically ill children
- Independently seek out resources and work collaboratively to solve complex problems
- Ensure accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record and adherence to UVA Health documentation and compliance standards
- Support the evaluation and care coordination of patients
- Provide patient and family education regarding disease processes, treatment options, and procedural care
4) Leadership
- Provide mentorship and education to students and staff members
- Exhibit leadership in clinical area of expertise and in meeting organizational goals
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master’s degree.
Experience: Department and unit specific.
Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The starting base rate for this role is $129,323.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.Benefits
