Director, Patient Access - Revenue Cycle

This role serves as the operational and strategic lead for front-end revenue cycle operations, ensuring efficient patient access, strong financial performance, and an exceptional patient experience. The Director partners closely with leaders across scheduling, billing, clinical operations, and financial services to optimize front-end revenue cycle performance and strengthen patient financial outcomes.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in healthcare revenue cycle operations, strong leadership capabilities, and a collaborative approach to driving operational excellence in a complex healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for patient access functions impacting revenue cycle performance across the health system.
• Oversee hospital and professional services registration, emergency department registration, admissions, point-of-service cash collections, and financial coordination.
• Lead and develop teams responsible for patient-facing access operations while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and service excellence.
• Partner with leaders across scheduling, billing, clinical operations, and other key departments to ensure alignment and optimal front-end revenue cycle performance.
• Drive operational improvements that enhance patient experience, improve financial outcomes, and strengthen revenue cycle performance.
• Ensure effective communication and collaboration across departments and stakeholders.
• Monitor operational metrics and performance outcomes, taking action to achieve measurable results and meet organizational goals.
• Manage departmental budgets and ensure responsible financial stewardship.
• Support organizational initiatives, innovation, and change management efforts to improve effectiveness and operational efficiency.
• Develop talent within the organization through coaching, mentorship, and leadership development.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree required within four years of hire or transfer.
Experience: Eight years of healthcare business, finance, admitting, or patient access experience required, including at least five years of management experience in a large academic medical center or similarly complex healthcare environment.
Licensure: None required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
The starting base rate for this role is $95,019.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.Job Profile
