Performs and participates in the decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment.
  • Prepares and assembles surgical trays and equipment following established tray listings for issue storage or further processing (such as sterilization).
  • Monitors reads documents and interprets all parameters for all types of sterilizers to ensure proper function (ETO Steam Steris and Sterrad).
  • Cleans and decontaminates reusable equipment instruments and supplies manually and mechanically (Hand Washing Washer/Sterilizer Ultrasonic Cleaner Scope Washer Cart Washer).
  • Participates in the coordination of all aspects of department’s services.
  • Serves as the resource for information for employees and customers.
  • Models team behaviors to frontline employees.
  • Manages departmental bar code system (SPM ORMIS).
  • Serves as preceptor in all areas of CSS (decontam, distribution, assembly and sterilizers)
  • Must maintain a minimum of two advanced or specialty operations
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.
Experience: 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
Licensure:

This position requires:

Certification as CRCST (Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician) through HSPA

OR

CSPDT (Central Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) through CBSPD

AND
(1) additional following certification: CIS (Certified Instrument Specialist), CER (Certified Endoscope Reprocess), or CHL (Certified Healthcare Leader)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires sitting/standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive).
Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 25-50lbs. Working in environment with fumes, chemicals, vibrations, heat, noise, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

The starting base rate for this role is $19.88 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
