The International Studies Office at the University of Virginia seeks an International Student and Scholar Program Coordinator to support the International Students & Scholars Program (ISSP) and the Lorna Sundberg International Center (IC). The International Studies Office (ISO), a division of UVA Global, is a University-wide resource that contributes to UVA's global mission through activities, programs and services designed to support the development of a globally aware, culturally diverse education and research environment.
Programming & Event Coordination:
- Manage the IC and ISSP’s entire programming process from development to assessment including volunteer recruitment, staffing, marketing, event registration, and purchasing which requires approximately two evening and two weekend events per month within a 40 hour work week.
- Hire, train, and supervise the IC’s student program assistants
- Coordinate with Orientation and Transition Programs (OTP) and grad/prof schools for ISSP orientation programming
- Assist with planning and execution of Global Week as Global Week Secretary
- Organize the nominations and presentation of the ISSP’s outstanding international student awards
Administrative support and supervision for student groups including:
- Global Greeters
- Global Peer to Peer Mentoring Program
- Citizen Leaders Fellowship
Communications & Marketing:
- Create and manage communication and outreach through the IC e-newsletter and other publicity materials and channels
- Assist with updating IC and ISSP web pages and social media accounts
- Answer calls to the IC's main telephone and respond to email inquiries to the IC inbox
Liaison:
- Liaise with Student Council representatives and leaders of international student organizations, Center for American and English Language and Culture, Office of Engagement, Departments, and CIOs
Other Administrative Duties:
- Process payments, expense reimbursements, and purchasing of office, facility, and program supplies via UVA Procurement or UVA T&E card
- Some ISO front desk coverage
- Maintain cross-training to provide back-up coverage when the IC assistant director is out of the office
- Additional duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree. Related experience can include training, volunteering, community groups, or experience gained as a student. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Two years of experience, student experience will be considered.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify priorities and to work independently.
- Ability to interact with administrators, faculty, students, and parents, with an understanding of protocol and confidentiality.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and have the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment.
About the position
This position will remain open until filled. Review of applicants will begin May 5, 2026. This is an exempt level, benefited position.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $48,000 to $50,000 commensurate with education and experience.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
