Facilities Management (FM) at the University of Virginia is seeking a Systems Control Center (SCC) Operator to join our 24/7 operations team. The SCC plays a critical role in monitoring and maintaining the integrity of essential systems across Academic, Housing and UVA Health facilities. This position supports the university’s physical infrastructure and engineering systems, ensuring facilities remain safe, functional, and aligned with operational needs. It is a hands-on role with opportunities to grow through additional training and experience.

Applicants must have shift work availability on rotating days, to include some weekends and holidays. This position is eligible for shift differential.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor Building Automation (BAS), fire and life safety, HVAC, energy management, and other mission-critical systems.

  • Notify and coordinate with internal and external responders using multiple communication platforms.

  • Apply sound judgment and decision-making in both routine and emergent situations.

  • Receive, prioritize, and facilitate resolution of service requests from customers and the organization.

  • Collaborate with peers, senior operators, supervisors, and the Systems Control Manager on complex issues.

  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of two [2] years of technical experience may be considered in lieu of diploma or equivalent.

  • A minimum of (2) years of experience analyzing and troubleshooting technical systems. Prior work experience in a customer service orientated environment is essential.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with customers and colleagues are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in a technical field.

  • Ability to read and understand system graphics and block diagrams is highly preferred, Proficiency with Microsoft Office is highly preferred.

  • Two [2] years of experience troubleshooting in a technical field and one [1] year of professional experience.

  • Applicants with experience with HVAC, Metasys, WebCtrl, or other Building Automation Systems are strongly encouraged to apply.

Compensation:

Anticipated Hiring Range: $26.00 - $30.00 ($54,080 - $62,400 Annually). This is a full-time position with UVA benefits. Employee benefits package highlights include:

Physical Demands:

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
