Department:

HUD Underwriting

We are Walker & Dunlop. We are one of the largest providers of capital to the commercial real estate industry, enabling real estate owners and operators to bring their visions of communities — where people live, work, shop, and play — to life. We are committed to creating meaningful social, environmental, and economic change in our communities. We believe seeking diverse talent and promoting the inclusion of all perspectives are more than moral imperatives – they are critical to our success and ability to innovate and grow.

Department Overview

Our FHA Finance experts work with borrowers to obtain a HUD-insured loan on multifamily and senior housing properties. The department is comprised of production and underwriting staff. The production staff is in a sales role working with clients to originate loan opportunities. Once a loan is engaged, the underwriting staff works with the client to prepare an application to HUD and identify strengths and weaknesses of a loan, putting appropriate mitigants into place. Once the application is submitted, the W&D FHA Team works closely with HUD staff as they review the application, issue a commitment to insure and ultimately close the loan. W&D is the #2 overall HUD lender in FY 2024.
