Job Description :

The role will report into the APAC Head of Wholesale Operations. The incumbent will lead the CIB Markets Operations APAC team spanning Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and India, offering trade support, sales support, trade reporting, collateral management and other post trade operations services to the business. The products supported include, Asia and US Investment Grade Credit, Foreign Exchange (Cash, Repo and Derivatives), Rates (Cash and Derivatives), Mortgage-Backed Securities and Structured Products. You will work closely with trading and sales leadership as well as counterparties in the US and EMEA in supporting the business. The role is a regulated position with the incumbent expected to hold the “Manager in Charge” position related to the activities of the team supporting the Hong Kong broker dealer.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the senior most representative for CIB Markets Ops in the region, accountable for the efficient and controlled running of all Markets APAC Ops activities.
  • Routinely attend/support key meetings (Markets production, board, risk & control, operating etc.) through the preparation and presentation of relevant materials.
  • Represent Markets APAC Ops in all initiatives, remediations, testing & validations and audits, serving as a subject matter expert and point of contact for the related structures.
  • Oversee the APAC CIB Operations leads (covering Trade Support, Sales Support, Transaction Reporting, Collateral Management, FX Ops & FCM Ops) and their teams in the running of their day-to-day, ensuring all periodic tasks are completed on time and all escalations are issued and tracked.
  • Develop and lead a geographically dispersed and multi-disciplined team that puts risk management, transparency and efficiency at the core of what they do.
  • Establishing and maintaining an effective Key Risk and Performance Indicator management reporting framework for regular review with business and ops management.
  • Ensure the CIB Markets APAC Ops team adopts best practices and global standards – challenging the status quo.
  • Establishing effective and purposeful meeting routines with business and ops management, including relevant APAC CIB Ops functional leads. This includes running effective and routine APAC CIB Ops team meetings.
  • Collaborate with all relevant business and functional partners in APAC, the US and EMEA in delivering services and projects for the region.
  • Identify, log and drive intelligent tactical and strategic automation opportunities.
  • Inventory and monitor the integrity of all controls run within Markets APAC Ops and ensure all associated procedures are up to date and of a very high quality.
  • Establishing cross training programs to facilitate team member development whilst also ensuring additional operating redundancy within the team.
  • Drive and deliver analyses, in particular contributing to annual funding cycles documenting and articulating problem statements, scope, business requirements, dependencies etc. to a very high standard.
  • Deep dive issues / incidents, challenge support partners in their activities and develop credible and trackable action plans.
  • Identify and broker solutions between the business and support & risk partners, ensuring requirements are met.
  • Oversee CIB Markets APAC Ops team member performance and development plans while also establishing succession plans.
  • Identify and lead control and process improvement opportunities across the desks / entities.
  • Oversee the costs associated with the team, optimizing the use of resources (e.g. market data, dealer boards etc.) and deep dive questionable cost allocations.
  • Promote a culture of root cause analysis and self-identification of risk within the team.
  • Own and manage all issues directly attributable to APAC CIB Markets Ops activities and drive them to conclusion.

Requirements:

  • Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of Capital Markets industry experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • University degree with a post graduate degree or other professional designation being advantageous
  • 10+ years of direct working experience in securities and derivatives operating environments in APAC
  • 5+ years of managing multi-discipline and geographically dispersed teams
  • 5+ years of direct working experience in designing, implementing and performing controls
  • Experience of working in a US investment bank at a manager level would be advantageous
  • Experience in identifying and reporting Key Performance and Key Risk Indicators for self and the business
  • Proactive and highly disciplined approach to managing periodic responsibilities
  • Experience in evolving organizations and optimizing resources, including off-shoring
  • Experience of being accountable to the business and functional partners in a matrixed environment
  • Experience in running multiple concurrent projects whilst overseeing day-to-day line production
  • Intimate knowledge of FICC products and their execution channels
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Access and SharePoint, including VBA (advantageous)
  • Proficient system and process flow mapping skills, including experience with using Microsoft Visio
  • Detail orientated, proactive problem solver with very strong numerical, verbal and analytical skills
  • Experience in vendor securities, futures and derivatives applications such as Calypso, Bloomberg TOMs, CTM, GMI, Broadridge etc.
  • Mandarin / Japanese language skills a plus, but not required
